Kaligard's Tower
Transcription from the Order of the Black Crescent, Sevgorod (2nd Cycle, Year of Silver Rain):
Kaligard’s Tower is believed to have been built in the generation following the reign of Aryn Chernaya, during a period of wars and territorial consolidation. While many historical records from that time have been lost, it is known that the tower served as a military outpost rather than a seat of power. The chaos of border conflicts and shifting alliances among noble houses during this period has obscured much of the tower's original purpose. It likely belonged to one of the many minor kings or lords who sought to secure their claim over the north.
The tower is now occupied by Kaligard, known by the few who have encountered him and lived as the Bonestealer. Kaligard is a powerful Apostate who practices necromancy without the sanction of the Feyn themselves. His reputation as a necromancer is rooted in his manipulation of the dead, which he uses for various purposes, including defense of the tower and his own research. The tower itself has become a place of fear, guarded by the reanimated dead that Kaligard controls.
Kaligard’s motives are not entirely clear, though he seems to have a deep interest in the ancient lineages of Chernaya. He has collected various relics, including Cryst-Nirithean artifacts, and his experiments often involve the remains of those who lived during the early days of the kingdom. Some accounts suggest that Kaligard seeks to unlock the power of these long-dead rulers, though his ultimate goals remain unknown. The Order advises caution to any who travel near the tower, as Kaligard’s control over the dead and his knowledge of forgotten practices pose a significant danger.
