The Gluttony Song
The Gluttony Song (Buelins and Aruberries)
While this song is associated with the Winter Solstice, it originates from the Day of Shameless Gluttony. Those at the feast would sing it to commemorate all the things they love about the Autumnal Equinox. Alternatively, they might sing it to make fun of how bloated and sick they feel afterward. The bridge of the song certainly expresses this sentiment.
Note that a "buelin" is a dumpling traditionally filled with meat (usually pork).
Lyrics
To the tune of "Pine Cones and Holly Berries"
"It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" Chorus
It's beginning to look a lot like Solstice,
Everywhere you go.
There's a tree in the Grand Oak Inn,
And a hot fire deep within,
The gentle kind that melts away the snow.
It's beginning to look a lot like Solstice,
Soon, the cold will start.
But the thing that we make it bear is the laughter that we share
Deep within our hearts!
"Pine Cones and Holly Berries" Chorus
Buelins and aruberries,
Pecans for you, pumpkins for me,
Maple bacon candy, nutcracker handy,
Kettle a bubblin' for holiday tea!
Our plates are stacked and ready,
Ready to dine, ready to stay
This Amberjack Cider makes our faces glow brighter
On this joyous Equinox day!
Bridge
We'll need great, sturdy chairs,
As we leave behind cares,
Lose ourselves to glutt'nous gorging.
There'll be morning-time feasts,
And evening-time feasts,
Lardo Cheese on every table.
And we won't be leaving 'till our girth shrinks down, oh yea!
The song is usually finished by two people singing both choruses at the same time.
