Dragonfire Island

Most of Dragonfire Island consists of a massive active volcano. This volcano constantly belches waves of Fire magic along with the usual soot and smoke. It is believed that this energy comes from the Alpha Crystal located deep in Altairus's core.

Dragonfire Island is very similar to the Typhonic Plains as far as its ecosystem is concerned. Only the hardiest mosses, plants, and animals can survive the rocky plains just below the central volcano.

Like the Typhonic Plains, Dragonfire Island has a hot, arid climate. Despite being surrounded by ocean, it only rains about a centimeter at most during the year.

The most notable fauna of Dragonfire Island are, of course, Fire dragons. Mostly lava dragons, specifically. A small tribe of kobolds also lives here, taking advantage of the island's mineral wealth. Lizards, insects, and certain cacti also make their homes here.

The soil on Dragonfire Island is rich in many different minerals, most notably Fire crystals. Those looking for energy to cast Fire spells brave the harsh conditions of Dragonfire Island to find stones charged with Fire magic. Blackmetal is another mineral that is commonly mined here.

The kobolds of the island make a profit by trading these minerals with the rest of Altairus. This is how, despite being only sparsely populated, Dragonfire Island is an invaluable piece of Altairus's world trade system.

Lava dragons may occasionally travel back to Dragonfire Island to get in touch with their roots.
