Personal history
As a young boy, Rowland Mockett was fascinated by the idea of flight, he dreamed of the magnificent airships that flew overhead from Grenagem. Since he was from a small fishing village from La Tantani, the only time he had ever been able to come close to one is when he made trips to the larger port cities on the Northern coast of La Tantani. His dream was to one day become a famous captain to one of the airships he saw traveling to and from his land. That is why at the age of 17, when his village received a call for Tantani citizens to go to Grenagem, he was the first to volunteer. He believed that Grenagem was a land filled with opportunity for him, he had rarely seen male Grenagem, so he thought they were also in need of more men in the Empire.
His time spent traveling was a dream come true, it was the first time he was able to set foot on an airship, and it was everything he imagined it would be. When he actually set foot in Grenagem, he was given living quarters, an apartment near the river base, and was told he would be assigned a person in the coming weeks.
What he didn't realize about Grenagem is that he didn't stand a chance to becoming a captain, when he went to look for job openings, he was given the task of laborer, barely ever to step on the ships he admired so much. While this ruined his idea of the city, he still hopes to make the most out of his circumstance. He does have a sister in the city as well, she was taken in as a baby, and hasn't heard from her, unknown to him is that she is a member of the Oligarchy now.

Education
Rowland went to his villages public school, which taught language, both Grenagem and Tantani, and basic mathematics. Science, history and advanced writing topics were taught to him by his parents, but in a very limited sense.
