Replacement

'Replacement parts' is the term used by the Empire to describe their functional prosthetic limbs. It's all too common in Grenagem for laborers to sustain injuries in their work. If injuries are severe enough, the state provides workers with prosthetic replacements for their damaged body parts. These prosthetics can be controlled by their wearers, but require Alumentum power to move and operate fully. Replacements are usually arms and legs, but more intricate machines exist to replace internal organs to an extent. These intricate machines, including artificial lungs and mouths, are only used for high profile individuals.   Replacements offer more capabilities than people's original limbs. Being made out of metal, replacements can be a formidable weapon in a fist fight. In addition, the alum power can be used to extend the strength of limbs beyond human limits.   Although the replacements provide new strength for their owners, they are unpopular due to their risk. Having an alum-powered device attached to your body dramatically increases your risk of getting Aluma-rot. In addition to this, many older and well-used prosthetics will begin to falter in their distribution of alum power. This results in areas of the prosthetic getting hot or potentially spewing steam.   Standard replacements such as arms and legs are created on an industrial scale in factories in the Industrial Zone. These are standard bases for the shape and function of replacement parts: arms with controllable wrists and fingers, legs with controllable ankles and feet. These are made in three different sizes. These generic prosthetics are kept in a warehouse until they exported as needed to hospitals across Grenagem.   When an injured laborer needs a typical replacement, the prosthetic of the proper size is selected and given to them. The prosthetic will be adjusted to fit their specific need before a surgical procedure connects it to them. They will be able to return to work after a short recovery period.
