Coracao do Mundo Tower
The Coracao do Mundo Tower Airship Dock is one of the most massive buildings that the empire of Grenagem has built to this day. This massive structure can be seen all throughout the city, no matter where you are sitting. It is the tallest building in the empire, reaching a massive 350 ft. tall in order to accommodate the amount of active airships needed to dock. There are about 5 levels of storage that the tower has, each level having the ability to house 4 Airships, one for every side of the tower. In total, the tower can dock 20 Airships as once.
The building itself is a feat of engineering, and it stands as a symbol of the empire’s power over the world. It is called the Coracao do Mundo for a reason, being that this building is located within the heart of the city and is the lifeblood of the empire’s power. It is the heart because of what it represents as the base of empirical and military power that Grenagem has over both the city and the world.
Purpose / Function
Used to dock airships as they prepare to leave or just come in from abroad.
Alterations
Originally made as a clocktower, the older building was destroyed and then built upon in order to make it taller, stronger, and more suitable for what the empire requires.
Architecture
Built around the Neo-Manueline architectural style, this building is decorated with pieces of ornamentation along the edges of the building. There are no windows, instead as you rise there are large arched doorways, inspired by Moorish architecture, that lead out to the docking bays. As you reach a level that a bay would be at, there is a large platform that reaches out, with four open doorways on each side of the four-sided tower. The platform is like a large square floor, reaching out to the airships as they dock in order to lock them in place as well as provide a means of exiting via a plank. The higher up, the larger the ship is able to be docked and smaller ships are docked towards the bottom. There is a double-elevator within the tower to aid in movement throughout the tall building.
