Academy of Exploration
Purpose / Function
This Academy was created in Year 10 as the government of Grenagem decided to expand its boundaries and began to promote expansion. Healthy females at the age of 3, right after they are out of the Imperial Noble Nursery, are enrolled until the age of 15. Explorers are specialized in one of 3 areas: Discovery, Leadership, and Ruling.
Discoverers are the ones who search maps for holes and observe land masses for water or as potential settlements.
Leaders are the ones that command expeditions, taking in all accounts from the discoverers and choosing where their troupe goes next.
Rulers command the locals and must be skilled in multiple languages; they also need to help set up mines for Alumentum when the time comes.
Alterations
The Academy started very small and had fewer than 600 students in its first couple years as the Empire was still repopulating. In the Year 17, after the discovery and partial colonization of La Tantani, The Academy was forced to expand with the influx of new women being born and a few new Tantani members being incorporated. A new wing to the center was added and an upper floor followed a few years later. Currently, The Academy has multiple buildings, dormitories, cafeterias, and is heavily surrounded my gates and police.
Architecture
The original center of the Academy still stands, a plain-looking, gray plaster block with few windows and a flat roof. The newer Dome, which is about 50 years old now, is a glass rotunda that used to let in sunlight, but now just makes the interior even more gray with all the smog in the air. More gray buildings are around the first but have more windows and arched doorways, a style learned from the native Tantani.
