Palus
Geography
Palus is the oldest volcano of Sorrelle Letre. Due to the large storms that lash it from Nord it has not developed a reef system. Instead, the rich volcanic sediments have spread out forming a large swamp system of mangroves and bogs. The constant damp and shifting of riverbeds have meant that most of the inhabitants are nomadic and amphibious. Throughout the swamp also exist a number of towers on the more stable blocks in which mages carry out immoral and often illegal experiments. This has generated a large number of mutants and undead which also call Palus home. Rumours exist of a walking house this shack controlled by a southern mage or priest wanders the swamps on huge duck feet. It is presumed that this is the ruler of the island although one or two liches living on the island argue differently.
Fauna & Flora
Palusis a botanical explosion, with almost every swamp lifeform finding a niche to exist. Insects from tiny to gigantic move throughout the swamp. These are hunted by avian, amphibious and feline creatures, who in turn are hunted by the tribes and larger predators. Within Palus even the plant-life can attack an unwanted visitor.
Palus is home to many swamp druids and is carefully managed and protected by them.
Palus has nomadic tribes of lizardmen and other amphibious creatures, many of these have been evicted or forced to change their ancient ways with the arrival of the Hobgoblin Empire.
