Skogarmaor Clans
The Skogarmaor were once a part of the Badu; however, they chose to settle the highland and coastal regions after they were chased out of the Frost lands. Upon settling the area, they began interbreeding with the local population. This interbreeding with the local people who were kin to the Wendol to the west. This interbreeding added size and mass to the local population. Thus, creating the current Skogarmaor. The Skogarmaor are fairly large in size. Standing between six feet tall and six foot two inches in height. They are fairly muscular with broad shoulders. Their hair color is shades of red, brown, black and the rare blonde from time to time. Skogarmaor men wear kilts and shirts made of wool. While the women wear dresses.
Now the areas that they settled are covered with deep fjords, dense forests, and hundreds of glens. The Skogarmaor build ships that allow them to fish along the rock coast. While the highlands provide some grazing land for herds of sheep and cattle. The forests offer bountiful game to hunt.
Over the centuries the Skogarmaor developed the ability to build longships. These ships are meant for war. There are two kinds of ships a fifty man and hundred men. Now both ships will be similar in appearance but will differ in size. These ships also allow them to sail not only the open ocean but rivers. The Skogarmaor have turned to raiding and pillaging coastal settlements to gain wealth and materials.
Equipment:
The Armor of the Skogarmaor is usually a leather brigandine or leather cuirass. Their vambraces are also made of leather. They carry a Targe shield. As far as other forms of armor it’s whatever they’ve pillaged from settlements.
In the early days the Skogarmaor used the traditional weapons of the Badu. Over time they have developed their own unique weapons. Like the Lochaber axe, Lochaber Pole Axe, and dirk dagger. But with their raiding the Skogarmaor have replaced the longsword with the broadsword. They have added war hammers, pikes, and claymores to the arsenal as well. They still use a variety of one handed and two-handed axes.
As far as tactics go the Skogarmaor aren’t the most innovative. They tend to just recklessly charge head along into battle. This doesn’t mean you take them lightly. Before the charge the Skogarmaor work themselves into a frenzy. They will yell, curse, threaten, and insult the enemy in front of them. Once the buildup has finished, they’ll charge. Now the Skogarmaor don’t have any sizeable calvary forces in their ranks. This is due to the geography of their homeland. Usually what they do is hire the Wendol to provide reliable horsemen. The Wendol tend to stay out of the Skogarmaor infighting but sometimes they get an offer they can’t refuse.
Clans:
Like the Wendol, the Skogarmaor are divided into clans. At one point there were several dozen clans throughout their territory. Over the centuries these clans have fought each other over and over again. Now these days the constant inter clan wars have only left five clans standing. Now each clan wears a unique pattern or Tartan on their kilts. This is an easy way of showing your allegiance.
