Arcanum Council

Starting in the Age of Mysterium, the Arcanum Council has been an essential governing body over the use and practice of magic for centuries. Located in the Dianmallo Arcane District, this council still meets and gathers to determine the ethical usage of magic, and set parameters by which to evaluate what magic is permissible or not. Many critics decry that the Arcanum Council was responsible for the end of the Age of Mysterium, along with the brief gap of memory loss that preceded the current age. For that reason, the Council's influence has waned. It would be completely inert if it were not for the powerful mages who sat in power. Those who support the Council often have personal testimonies of the Council's direct involvement in curbing evil magic users before they were able to bring about cataclysmic disaster.

There are a few unmentioned members of the council, which lends itself to further scrutiny by the general populace, but this is defended by the Council as necessary for maintaining a neutral and protected legal magisterium and governing body.

Influence

As far as influence on the Dianmallo general government, this faction carries as much weight as the major religious factions, but the majority of its influence comes through High Lord Fennclam's presence on the council, in the same way that religious affairs come through High Lord Gurgax's presence.
