Prince Forde Ovresti

Biological parent of Kendra Ovresti Forde was generally a good guy. Not very well suited to ruling, he married Kiernen Tormevi in one step of the plan of the Nameless Ones. The son of one of them, he was set to inherit the throne ahead of his sister, who was married to a lesser Tormevi, and his brother, who was considered too young and unpredictable should the plot fail. Kiernen was, in their minds, a good option- she and Laren were good friends, and she was capable of providing Milani legitimacy without too much opposition. The Cleansing occurs while the couple, aged sixteen and nineteen, are on their honeymoon. As soon as Kiernen learns of her family's murder, she runs, believing that Forde is involved and- liking him just enough to marry him, she's unwilling to take the chance. Laren, with whom she's fallen in love, helps her escape but returns to his family- the picture of loyalty. Kiernen is indeed queen at this point, but in the chaos her mother-in-law, Onesta Silver, takes control of both countries. With Forde missing, Laren begins to be groomed by his mother to inherit the throne. With this small amount of freedom, he is able to leave and visit Kiernen periodically, without his mother or brother realizing a thing. Meanwhile, Forde has met up with Kiernen's surviving brother Baudri and they search for her. It takes two years, but they eventually find her in Iolän, a guest of the Court and raising their daughter- who is now two years old. It's a bit of a shock, as she fled soon after their consummation and is apparently in a relationship with Laren, but Forde accepts Kendra as his child and gives her the Ovresti surname.
