The Frostborn Dominion: The Empire of Ice and Steel

Honor Through Strength, Strength Through Winter

A Land Forged in Ice and Battle

The Frostborn Dominion, known across Aldria as the Empire of Ice and Steel, is a land of unyielding winters, towering mountains, and warriors who know no fear. Carved from the frozen northlands where even the sun seems reluctant to rise, the Dominion is a testament to endurance, strength, and unbreakable will. To survive in the Dominion is to embrace the storm—to fight, to endure, and to claim one’s place among legends.   Unlike the vast bureaucracies of Valtheria or the shadowed councils of Sorathi, the Dominion is ruled by the High Jarl, a warlord chosen through battle, wisdom, and the will of the gods. Beneath him, Jarls and Chieftains govern the great clans, their rule earned not through birthright but through deeds of valor. The Dominion is a society where strength determines one's place, and the weak do not last long.   The people of the north—called Frostborn by outsiders—have little patience for luxury or deception. They live by the sword and by the hunt, believing that only those who endure hardship are worthy of the gods' favor. To die in battle is the highest honor, for it ensures a place in Frosthalla, the great hall of the honored dead.

The Frostborn Legions: Unbreakable Warriors of the North

The Frostborn Dominion does not rely on rigid formations or elaborate strategy. Instead, its warriors fight with instinct, ferocity, and sheer resilience.
  • The Berserkers of the Storm – Frenzied warriors who fight with reckless abandon, channeling the fury of the storm in battle.
  • The Shieldmaidens of Vjoldheim – Elite female warriors trained from childhood, wielding enchanted spears and shields said to be unbreakable.
  • The Frostforged Warriors – Champions clad in enchanted ice-forged armor, resistant to magic and nearly impervious to harm.
  • The Iceborn Shamans – Mystics who wield the power of the frozen land, summoning blizzards and calling upon the spirits of their ancestors.
Wherever the Frostborn march, they bring the wrath of winter with them. Their warriors do not retreat, do not surrender—they fight until the last breath, for they believe death is merely the next step to glory.

Lords of War, Winter, and Fate

The Frostborn Dominion follows the ways of the Old Lords, deities as cold and unyielding as the land itself. Unlike the faith of Valtheria or the sorceries of Sorathi, the Frostborn do not believe in salvation—only strength, fate, and honor.
  • Thrymir, the Stormfather – A Lord of war and thunder, worshiped by warriors and kings.
  • Skjolda, the Iron Maiden – The Lord of battle, shieldmaidens, and unbreakable oaths.
  • Vaelgrim, the Watcher of the Dead – The Lord of Frosthalla, who judges warriors' souls before they pass on.
The Hall of Echoes, a sacred temple deep in the mountains, is where shamans and warriors seek visions from their ancestors, listening to the whispers of those who have walked before them. These visions shape the destiny of the Dominion, guiding its warriors to battle and its leaders to glory.

The Struggles of the Dominion: War and Survival

Though mighty, the Frostborn Dominion is not without its challenges:
  • The Southern Invasions – The Valtherian Empire, seeing the Frostborn as barbaric heathens, has tried for centuries to tame the north. Every attempt has ended in blood and snow.
  • The Sorathi Warlocks – The Sorathi Dominion seeks to corrupt the ancient runestones of the north, hoping to twist their power to dark purposes. The Frostborn burn any warlocks they find.
  • The Endless Winter – Some whisper that the land is growing colder, that the storms last longer each year. There are fears that something stirs beneath the glaciers, an ancient force of ice and death.
Despite these threats, the Frostborn do not waver. The High Jarl has vowed that no empire will break the Dominion, that no force—man, god, or monster—will make them kneel.

The Dominion Stands Eternal

The Frostborn Dominion is more than just a kingdom—it is a way of life, a trial by ice, a test of strength where only the strong survive. It is a land of warriors, of conquerors, of those who carve their own destiny from the frozen earth.   For winter may take the weak, but the strong shall endure.   The Dominion will never fall.
