Ama Tree (Ah MA)
Children of the Seblug
Ethae myth tells us that it was through Aterleg and his seven Elder Tree that all plant life was born onto Aldern. While the reality of this seems untrue, it is known that at least one form of life came from the seed of an elder trees, the Ama and Umu Tree. They are considered a single form of life, because the only distinction between the two tree types is that the Ama grew in the Great Forest of the West, Karasaanu, while the Umu grow everywhere else in Ethae. This is a distinction created by the Elf, not botany. One that persists, however, The two types are identical in all other ways. They produce Daanan Magic as their parent trees, though to a lesser extent. They grow hundreds of thin trunks from a single seed. These trunks grow close together, often twisting around each other. The trees, when they mature will extend far about the forest canopy around them. Elf communities throughout history have made the upper branches of the trees home. These communities find a tree early in its growth and spend decades, even centuries guiding these growing trunks. They weave them around each other, building whole towns in the depths of the trees. The upper branches of these trees can generate enough Daanan to form Feywilds throughout the canopies heart.
The Ama trees were often known as Areian trees in early history. It was the Ama, and the Umu trees that were the traditional homes of the Woyd'are elves. Most remaining Ama today are a closely guarded secret.
