The Maple Tree Arms is a Tavern that is in Wimborne. The building itself was once abandoned, once found and claimed was into the Maple Tree Arms.   It is called the Maple Tree Arms as there is a maple tree in the centre of the main room that is so tall that the roof has a hole for it to grow through, this of course means that in autumn the maple tree drops its leaves in the main area. The counter for the bar goes around the tree.

Purpose / Function

As the Maple Tree Arms is a tavern its purpose is to give meals and a place to rest to those who are about to or are coming back from their travels.

Design

The building was once a medical complex in one building so it is not one particular shape, its more a hodgemodge of shames together. The main seating area is the largest and a square, the connecting room that was once a library is a rectangular shape.

Entries

There are two entries namely for either side of care, those of the Medic and Healer, with the other being for the patients.   Once it became a tavern the front entrance, once used for the personnel is now used for patrons and the other being used for staff.

Alterations

The tavern was once the house of medicine a precursor to the Medica, hence the maple tree in the centre. many of the rooms have been changed to suit the newer tavern.

Architecture

The tavern is built like a small fort made of stone, so it can last through the ages.

Defenses

Originally the building was guarded by its own bespoke guards. When it became a tavern in the begining it was defedned by Protectors at the local Protectors Guild by the owner. Once the tavern got more successful this came under Wimborne's protection.

History

The Maple Tree Arms, was originally the House of Medicine, a precursor to the Medica. When it was used medically, they had to leave due to not having enough space and so move to Draurough and to where the Medica is now.   The building was left abandoned and was later found by a wood cutter who turned it into the Maple Tree Arms. In tyhe process of opening the tavern, the owner asked Medica if they wanted their old books, having sent them a list. As the Artistocracy was established at this point, this came under the University's jurisdiction and not the Medica's.   After the old books were sent and the tavern setup and became popular Wimborne expanded to include the new tavern, resulting in a the tavern being protected by Wimbourn's Guard and its surrounding homes and businesses.

Tourism

Those who visit the Maple Tree Arms, have either come back from or going on their travells, much later on those who lived nearby came for an evening meal or to spend time together.
