Qualifications
Qualifications before the University, was to make candles and a simple wax without hurting oneself.
After the establishment of the University, qualification came from enrolling under the Chandlers' Trade Room, and getting to Apprentice rank. By completing coursework and projectwork under the Trade Room. Once this occurs a University member can apply for a University Mark (unless the Trade Room is Medicinal, in this case it is the University Medallion)
Career Progression
To progress in this career one would need to make much more differcult items, such as those with more ingredients or those that could result in fire.
Payment & Reimbursement
Payment is often given on a daily basis. Before the Artistocracy when the Trade Guilds were still a thing this would have included a Guild Membership fee, in which, while the member gets paid on a daily basis they would have to put sonme of their pay asside for their membership fee, due to it changing or rank changes.
During Artistocracy the members of the Trade Rooms will get paid only when their items they made are sold at the University Marketplace their bed and board are included as part of the expenditure of the University and therefore also the Artistocracy not the individual members.
Other Benefits
As with all professions outside the University or even before the Artistocracy employers pay for or provide at least one meal a day as a legal requirement to the employee, not the employee's family, this does not mean the employee can't buy more food if needed.
Perception
Purpose
The purpose of the Chandler is to make candles and waxes. These waxes are things like furniture polish something that can be rubbed on leather. All candles can be produced by the Chandler.
Social Status
As the Chandler is an important profession as without them those who depend on him would not have light or away to care for their homes. The University would not have lighting either.
