Bess Marley
Bess Marley comes from a respectable family, if somewhat fallen on hard times. She attended Schola, finding a home in Horse House. But after she left school, her family didn't have the resources to find her an apprenticeship that would make the best use of her skills.
She's spent her life until 1854 in a series of positions as a lady's companion, tending to any tasks demanded of her by the lady of the house.
Claiming the Tower
In Claiming the Tower, Bess feels stuck about many things in her life. When she comes into Hereswith's orbit, they find out that their respective skills and interests are an excellent fit for each other.
