Princess Isibella is the daughter of King Harun and Queen Fathia. With Harun not having a son she would be the heir to the throne. A woman on the throne would be unusual and it only happened once so far.
She lives a luxurious but restricted life behind palace walls, reading books and practising her dancing, but always under the watchful eye of her father's attendants. But despite her father's efforts to keep her safe and pure, Isibella frequently sneaks out of the palace to perform in secret for the people of Charakur. Her performances are the talk of the town, and many people are curious about the identity of the mysterious dancer. Isibella is aware that she will be punished if her father finds out, but the thrill of the dance is too strong to resist.
As she approaches her twentieth birthday, Isibella's thoughts turn increasingly to the future of her country and her potential role in it. She is acutely aware of the expectations placed on her as the king's only child, and she is also aware that her father is getting older and may not rule for much longer. She fantasises about a prosperous and vivid Calika and wishes she could play the role in making that a reality.
Isibella has a strong desire to help her people, particularly those who are affected most by the extreme weather patterns that frequently afflict her country. She has developed a network of allies, spies and informants throughout the city, people who are loyal to her and can provide her with information that may be useful in her quest for helping people.

Tan is Isibella's private teacher from Ojiro, but who lives in Charakur for over 30 years now. His lessons include art, history, politics, music, dancing, singing and even self-defence with various weapons and even without. Isibella has five different lessons per day, nine days a week.

Isibella is sweet and charming, but she is also short-tempered and can explode into a proper tantrum just a moment later only to calm down again as if nothing has happened.

She keeps her spending down though, knowing that all the money basically belongs to the people of Calika and should go back there. Instead she is wearing as much as possible of the family jewelry, always creating a jingling noise when she is moving through the palace or dancing the traditional dances of Calika.
