Alana is a world brimming with wonder, where diverse cultures thrive amidst breathtaking landscapes and powerful magic. Four main continents paint its map: the technologically advanced Boresia in the west, the spiritually rich Qail in the centre, the tradition-bound Kundi in the east, and the mysterious Northern Regions. Beyond these lies Mag Mell, the ethereal realm of the Fae, connected to Alana through hidden portals.

Western Continent of Boresia - The Dawn of Progress

The Western Continent of Boresia pulses with innovation. Airships powered by magic traverse its skies, steam-driven trains snake across its land, and magical items are commonplace, illuminating homes and aiding in everyday life for those who can afford them. Three kingdoms vie for power:
  • Farenian Empire: Queen Eleanor Rani of Farenia rules from her opulent capital, Queenshaven, leading a vast human empire steeped in tradition and ambition.
  • Kingdom of Lymyra: Queen Yathanae presides over the elven kingdom from her emerald city, Olena Ora. Known for their deep connection to nature, the elves maintain a balance between progress and preservation.
  • Technocracy of Magramine: This dwarven-led nation thrives on industry, with Skulk serving as its bustling heart. Dwarves tirelessly work alongside their creations; the Titanforged, sentient constructs, form an integral part of their society. However, a simmering tension exists beneath the surface. Whispers circulate about secret machinations and growing discontent among the Titanforged.

The region's history is scarred by three devastating wars, fuelled primarily by the dwarves' relentless expansionism. The Treaty of the Council of Olena Ora brought a fragile peace, but it was forged in blood. Eleanor Rani ascended to the throne after her father, the Farenian Emperor, was assassinated during the treaty negotiations. This act of treachery casts a long shadow over relations between the kingdoms and fuels lingering mistrust.   Timeline of Boresia   Primary habitat of: Birdfolk (Chidaya), Bugbears, Dwarves, Elves, Gnomes, Humans, Kendric (aka Halflings, Kender, you name it), Owlfolk (Kookoo), Rabbitfolk (Wibbit), Titanforged, Trolls, Turtlefolk (Kachhua)

Central Continent of Qail - A Tapestry of Faith and Tradition

Charakur by Tillerz using MJ
The people of Qail, Alana's central continent, are religious and employ modern technology sparingly. Magical items are not widely available for everyone but mostly in the hands of people of power and religious leaders.   The Caliki, who inhabit the continent's north, are known for their strong morals and control Charakur, Alana's primary trade port and Calika's capital city. King Harun and Queen Fathia live in the city as well. Harun rules the country harshly but fairly, as Fathia assures.   Primary habitat of: Catfolk (Phurr), Duckfolk (Papia), Fishfolk (Makalee), Forestpeople (Van), Frogfolk (Mendhak), Goblins, Kobolds, Lionkin (Sinh), Merfolk (Piscari), Minotaurs, Orcs (Rukha), Serpentfolk (Gata), Tsin

Eastern Continent of Kundi - Echoes of the Ancients

The Eastern Continent of Kundi remains untouched by the technological advancements of Boresia or the spiritual fervor of Qail. Deeply rooted in ancient traditions and beliefs, its people revere nature's power and harbour a reverence for spirits and ghosts. Dashan stands as a beacon of vibrant culture, with its capital, Parafifi, overflowing with celebration and tradition. The religious leader, Lobal, wields both spiritual and political authority, guiding his people through their unique lens of faith.   A shadow falls upon Kundi's easternmost nation, Zaxor, where a catastrophic event leaves the land desolate and abandoned. However, recent times have witnessed the rise of the Goth, who have seized control of Zaxor's capital city, Zaxi, marking a turning point in the region's fate.   Primary habitat of: Centaurs, Elefantfolk (Hathi), Goth, Insectoids, Lizardfolk (Chipa), Ravenfolk (Koraki), The Cursed

Han by Tillerz using MidJourney
The Northern Regions remain shrouded in mystery, where icy landscapes meet treacherous mountains and ancient magic lingers.

  • Han: This land is dominated by powerful spellcasters who rule their people with an iron fist, demanding exorbitant taxes and punishing even minor offenses. They describe Mo-Lung as their thriving commercial hub, claiming it is the most important port in Alana. Legends whisper of dragons being sighted within these expanses, adding to the region's mystique.
  • Goliath Territory: Vishaal, the formidable goliaths, claim the frozen wasteland Kramar west of Han, with its capital Ferrograd, and their strength and resilience make them formidable adversaries.

Mag Mell - The Realm of Fae

Beyond the veil of reality lies Mag Mell, the ethereal realm of the Fae. Two gates connect it to Alana: one hidden within Makari, a bustling kendric city in the Farenian Empire, and another nestled near the mountains of Calika.   Mag Mell is a land of enchantment and danger, ruled by Oberon, Titania, and the enigmatic Spider Queen. However, her Shadow Court casts a growing shadow over the realm, their dark magic threatening to consume its beauty and harmony.   Within Mag Mell, ancient elves, playful faeries, mischievous pixies, ethereal sprites, graceful nymphs, mischievous satyrs, wise dryads, and swift sylphs coexist amidst towering forests, shimmering lakes, and hidden groves.   Primary habitat of: The Old Elves, Faeries, Pixies, Sprites, Nymphs, Satyrs, Dryads, Sylphs, and the dark creatures of the Shadow Court
