This collection contains the items Geertruud Smallbottom has sent to Margo through their paired teleportation backpacks. Geertruud found some of these objects during excavations and fieldwork. Others were purchased from markets, donated by locals, or given as thanks for her help. The backpack transfer their contents once each day, so every item arrived in Perelline exactly as Geertruud packed it.
Margo stores the safer pieces in labelled crates at the Tentacle Press office. The rest are kept in Margo’s personal "hoard," a growing pile in her room at her parents’ house. Her parents continue to place all earnings from Geertruud’s book and map sales in the same hoard, along with anything Margo sends back in return. The result is an expanding mix of artefacts, odd tools, personal effects, and items that defy easy classification. Each entry here records Geertruud’s field description and current research notes.
Tests show that the stone emits steady warmth without cooling or overheating. The temperature stays consistent in snow, rain, and direct sun. It has no reaction to magical detection spells, nor does it change when placed next to other warm objects. The stone has no moving parts or runes. The most practical use is simple climate comfort. It might fit into a larger device or socket due to its uniform shape and the stable heat output.
WFRP4e: Carrying it grants +10 to Endurance against cold for one day.
Cypher: Provides an asset for one cold-resistance roll per day.
The folding motion is precise, suggesting expert craftsmanship rather than magic. No enchantments respond to standard detection. The figure shows no wear despite repeated folding. It may be a coded token, a piece of an unknown puzzle, or a ceremonial marker. Records from older settlements mention folding objects used as travel permits, so it might relate to such customs.
WFRP4e: None.
Cypher: Level 1 oddity that folds and unfolds.
Attempts to pair the sock with any other sock cause the second item to vanish after a short delay, leaving only the original. Priests claim that items like this appear at shrines associated with small blessings. No harmful effects noted. It may provide minor stability in movement or ritual precision. Its durability suggests divine origin rather than enchantment.
WFRP4e: Wearing it reduces the chance of Fumbles on Agility Tests by 1.
Cypher: Artifact, level 2. Eases one balance-related roll each day.
When turned, someone within a short distance sneezes. Range tests show no clear limit, although nearby targets are affected more often. The sneeze is mild and causes no damage. The crank does not store charge or energy. It seems designed as a minor prank device or a distraction tool. Excessive use produces no cumulative effects.
WFRP4e: Forces a target within 20 yards to sneeze, giving them –10 to their next action.
Cypher: Level 2 device. Causes a target in short range to lose their next minor action.
Opening the bottle releases a brief spoken compliment. The voice is neutral and shows no awareness of the listener. The compliment changes each time and never repeats within recorded tests. No magical residue remains after each use. The vapour reforms slowly when sealed (24 hours), suggesting either a self-renewing charm or a stored enchantment. The bottle serves as a morale tool or social aid.
WFRP4e: Opening it grants +10 to one Charm Test made within ten minutes.
Cypher: One-use effect each day. Eases one social roll.
