Mundegap (MOON-deh-gap, or MUHN-deh-gap)

Mundegap, meaning "Gaping Mouth" in Ancient Yasamaqi, is the largest city of Yasamaq. It is also the only one that is not located directly within the tunnels, and is the nerve center of trade for the entirety of the continent.   Mundegap takes its name from its particular location: it is situated in a very large cavern carved into the side of Yasamaq, and some have described the buildings as "rows and rows of gray teeth protruding from the stone". This cavern was initially much smaller, but it began to grow thanks to Qarah's efforts.   The city of Mundegap is comprised of a massive harbor, able to welcome hundreds of ships, a massive market where goods both local and international are traded, and enough habitations (some carved directly into the stone walls, some more standard stone constructions) to welcome the ever-growing population of the city.

Locations

  • Hell's Kitchen: A famous high-end restaurant which serves a variety of monster meat-based dishes. Prospective chefs of Yasamaq would often do anything just for an apprenticeship under Yasmar, the legendary head chef.
  • Respiration Harbor: The harbor of Mundegap, so named because of the near-constant movement of ships, both in and out of it. A massive fish market lines its border.
  • The Teeth: The housing district of the city. Most houses there are made of stone. The entirety of the district is a bit chaotic, as homes were built there with no real thought for urban planning.
  • Fizzletop's Bits and Bobs: The only actual shop on Yasamaq that sells magical items of all sorts, and is able to craft and/or enchant some as well, given the proper materials and time. Also sells spell components. Headed by the Fizzletop Clan, a clan of gnomes.
  • Akmens' Anvil: The most famous forge in the entirety of the city, and notoriously close to the fish markets, which has caused many squabbles between the fishmongers and the proprietor, clan Cruach.
  • The Stone's Tongue: An inn close to the harbour itself, famed for its cheap ale and the quantity of sailors that frequent the establishment.
  • The Hall of Braves: The Hall of Braves is the location where monster hunters officially gather. There, prospective hunters are tested and can get certified, while veterans can get new jobs and share information about monsters with their fellows.

Notable people

  • Yasmar, a Fire Genasi and head chef of Hell's Kitchen. Known to be very volatile, exigent and vulgar, but those personality traits are often brushed aside due to how proficient he is at his job. Countless lives have been saved thanks to his expert preparation skills.
  • Khurm of Qarah's Clan, a dwarf working as quartermaster of the Respiration Harbour. Responsible for ensuring that transported goods don't get stolen and to keep track of what has been sent to Siarvald and what has been received from it. Known to be an extremely stressed and impatient person, especially in current times.
  • Felix of clan Fizzletop, the current gnome owner of Fizzletop's Bits and Bobs. Known to be a very eccentric sort. Aided by the rest of his clan in maintaining the enterprise.
  • Vaakia "Stronghammer" of clan Cruach, the main blacksmith at Akmens' Anvil and leader of clan Cruach, the only Goliath clan that exists on Yasamaq. Known to be very serious about her job and preserving the legacy of her ancestors and clan.
  • Chaena, the Firbolg proprietor of the Stone's Tongue. Known to be very kind and matronly...until somebody breaks her furniture, that is. For some reason, does not claim to hail from a clan, but has an Arven's Gem.
  • Deles Dahnulnath, a triton ambassador to Yasamaq who relays his people's will and message to Yasamaq. Is treated almost like royalty due to the aid the tritons previously provided to the continent. Known to be haughty and slightly incompetent.
