The Circle

Faith in Aislion

Mythology & Lore

The five gods of the Circle are said to have come together when all the races were tongue in order to provide guidance to the young races. Starting with the Humans and the Dwarves, they uplifted them and gave them the knowledge to build their cities. Then they embraced the Elves and the Gnomes. To them they gave an affinity for the Wyrd, to which the Elves became lithe and agile while the Gnomes over time became intuitive and clever beyond the rest. The last of the races to be embraced were the Orcs. The orcs were held as special because of their childish wonder and interest in the things the gods showed them. While blessing them, they helped them to develop their unique traditions. With the aid of the gods, Orcs were integrated into the other cultures and fit perfectly as defenders and protectors of others.   With these five races each tied together, the Circle turned their attention to the Fey. The creatures of the Fey people were disgusted that they were considered last and turned away from the Circle, determined to prove they could develop and change themselves. This separation is what is believed to be the source of the hatred between the Fey and the "civilized" races.

Ethics

The Circle supports a community spirit, helping and aiding each other as much as ones self. Any form of misfortune is assumed to be the gods' punishment for a crime against your fellow, no matter how small.

Worship

Shrines are erected to individual gods in homes and other public places. Taking time to stop in your day to kneel and pray is the accepted practice of observation.

Priesthood

Priests of the Circle  are common in the cities but you might be lucky to have one in the smaller hamlets.    Each priest comes from an initiate who has served their faith for several years. They are tasked with the care of the temples and holy sites while also preforming the rites and blessings from each of the gods.

Granted Divine Powers

Each god is supposed to have a different hand in the lives of the people and is rumored each provides their own blessings. From healing the sick and wounded to visions of the future, those blessed by the gods with their divine power can preform miracles.

Sects

While no direct splits exist in the faith, each city or temple has a tendency to venerate one or more gods over the rest. This comes with a selection of separate doctrinal beliefs, observed rituals, and punishments to heretics.    The one major sect of the faith is the Inquisition of the Circle . These are individuals who came together against the danger presented by dreamers. The most extreme will execute dreamers upon sight while others will lead campaigns against them for the dangers than can present.
