Bridge of Fa-liad
Purpose / Function
The bridge connect two massive spires, spanning the only strait between the Unbek Sea and the Abbios Sea. The allows for passage between the two islands for civilians. It serves a dual purpose in that the sidings are manned by the Ozdoliathian military.
Architecture
While initially the massive stone structure looks plain and merely functional, upon closer inspection, the top of the bridge is covered in intricated carvings of a multitude of fish. The stone road crossing the bridge itself is layers in an interlocking pattern using the dark stone found in the tall mountain spires. At each side of the bridge are the only ornate pieces seen from a distance, two massive statues depicting crows gazing out over the sea.
Defenses
The bridge functions as a watchtower over the passage, able to signal the lower guard to raise the underwater nets to block passage. At the base of the bridge are towers with embedded defenses. The access to the internal struction of the bridge defenses is restricted to the military forces that guard the Strait of Fa'liad.
Tourism
While tourism is not a frequent thing in the Cairn Isles, the Bridge of Fa'liad is one of the few sites that make such a trip worth it. Travelers who cross the bridge are treated to one of the most breathtaking ciews of the Unbek Sea , able to see not just miles out into the mists, but also able to see down into the multicolored coral reefs that litter the surrounding area. Such a view stands is stark contrast to the cold spire tops. Unfortunately for sight-seers, there is no inn or other place to rest nearby making this a sight one usally only sees as a side effect of travelling.
