Yax-ta
A species of sapient birds of prey hailing from mountainous regions. The main realm of the Yax-ta in Ëaqelun is Asotl, a league of city states connected by their similar culture and religion. The realm developed on the slopes of the Talon Mountains, thought to be the origin of the Yax-ta.
Yax-ta are highly communal, curious and well known for their intelligence. They travel a lot and are skilled traders.
Yax-ta have two homes: the one they reside in currently (anywhere in the world) and the one where they were born, usually high up in a mountain range. These settlements are only reachable by flight and may only be entered by the specific family of Yax-ta that has settled there.

Biological Traits
Yax-ta have a very diverse range of appearance, some sub-groups resemble hawks, some look more like eagles or even owls. This has influence in their height and weight as well, with some sub-groups beeing distinctivly larger or smaller than others in size.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals
Yax-ta travel to the place they were born to mate, birth their young and raise them. A set of formal rituals are performed before the travel to the birthplace, the arrival there, the mating and the birth itself. This rituals are of utmost importance for all Yax-ta and part of their religious beliefs as well.

Average Height
Depending on the distinct group, but mostly between 1,50-1,70m. Bigger examples are known to reach more than 2m but this is rather exceptional.
