Drothé
Drothé is the god of the earth and stone in the Outer Gyrlands, and the father of dwarvenkind. He is a true neutral deity, and he is known for his steadfast and unmoving nature. Known as the Stout Father, or All-Steady Ground, he is the opposite side of the god of fire, Frácos, with whom he has particularly quarrelsome relationship. He is one of the first deities in Aetregyr, and was present for the Dawn of Life. He is one of the Prime Four, and is only rivaled in power by the other three gods of Creation. All surface folk, whether dwarven or not, feel his ever-steady weight. Dwellers of the Underdark are keenly aware of Father Earth, as they dwell their entire lives enveloped in his constant, unwavering embrace.
Drothé's clerics pray for their spells at first light, grateful that dawn breaks across the land, unchanging and predictably as ever. During worship, they lie forward on their knees, getting as low and close to the ground as possible, face touching the earth. The majority of dwarves are followers of Drothé, and many dwarves served as his clerics, but he had a steady following among other humanoids as well, particularly other member species of the Stoneclave, gnomes and goliaths. Drothé found the whimsical, chaotic natures of his siblings Slauthé and Magosá to be irritating at best, and contentious at worst. Drothé's temperament made him a direct enemy to the followers of deities such as Lomus, Faestos, Sl'grast, Mordric, and Alauthé. Drothé held equal disdain for both the disorderly ways of chaos and the divisive and fickle nature of law. To his worshippers, Drothé is All, constant and eternal, and everything and everyone should strive to the same end.
Drothé's clerics are often drawn from the warrior class. Many soldiers, paladins, and fighters find comfort in the orderly, unchanging path laid in front of them by Drothé's teachings. His ways also appeal to many craftsmen and tradesfolk, especially smiths, but also those who create products where repetitive, steady routine is the pathway to perfection.
Drothé's temples are usually austere and spartan, favoring the plain unadorned stone walls, particularly those made of strong materials such as granite, basalt, or even iron. Any ornamentation is usually thin filigree of gold, silver, or other precious minerals, or very rarely, large, valuable gemstones. Temples to Drothé rarely have windows, preferring the feeling of being completely and utterly interred inside their thick stone walls. Many Temples to Drothé also double as a forge, or held a forge in a place of prominence within the building. Wherever possible, Drothéan Temples are built undergound. This is especially true in the lands of the Stoneclave. Most Churches of Drothé try to use their influence and power to provide a sense of dedicated and unyielding dependability for their communities. Drothéan Temples serve as an unwavering anchor, ever reliable, in the face of a whimsical and turbulent world.
Piety
