SPECIAL ABILITIES

Necromorph Options Although there are common types of hive horrors each is unique.  You can select one of the following abilities or spend 3 Gene Pool points from the mutations presented in the Mutant Menagerie.  Note these options have not been included in the creature’s stat block.

  • Aura of Doom: All living creatures within 30-feet of the type 7 hive horror must make a Will save DC 17 or suffer a -1 penalty to attack, damage, and saving throw rolls.  Once a creature makes a save they cannot be affected by the same hive horror’s aura again for 24-hours.
  • Aura of Fatigue: the type 7 hive horror emits a pheromone causing the fatigued condition to any living create within 30-feet.  Living creatures are entitled to a Fortitude saving throw DC 17 to avoid the condition.  A creature which is already fatigued suffers no further effect. Once a creature makes a save they cannot be affected by the same hive horror’s aura again for 24-hours.
  • Aura of Anger:  All quasi-dead creatures within 30-feet of the type 7 hive horror are overcome with anger gaining a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls but a -2 penalty to KAC. Once a creature makes a save they cannot be affected by the same hive horror’s aura again for 24-hours.

ECOLOGY

Environment any

Organization hive

Type 7 hive horrors have an enormous oversized cranium resembling brain coral in both appearance and structure density. The rest of their body has a feral appearance distinguished by a boney salmon colored carapace. These hive horrors are more commonly referred to as mushroom heads by those who have fought them and lived to tell their tale.

Mushroom heads are casters first.  They use their spell-like abilities to cause strife and chaos to the ranks of their enemies.  They are always accompanied by lesser hive horror types and rarely travel alone.
