SPECIAL ABILITIES

Confusing Gaze (Ex) Any creature beginning its turn within 30-feet of a type 10 hive horror and able to see its eyes, the torus horror can force the creature to make a Will save DC 20 as an immediate action.  On a failed save the target creature becomes confused for 1d4 rounds.  Once a creature has made a successful Will save against the torus horror’s confusing gaze it cannot be affected again by the same torus horror for 24 hours.

Necromorph Options Although there are common types of hive horrors each is unique.  You can select one of the following abilities or spend 4 Gene Pool point from the mutations presented in the Mutant Menagerie.  Note these options have not been included in the creature’s stat block.

  • Love Darts: the hive horror gains a natural ranged weapon allowing it to fire love darts from an appendage through a riffled tube. Ranged: dart +24 (5d10+14 P)
  • Love Rocks: the hive horror gains a natural ranged weapon allowing it to fire love rocks from an appendage through a riffled tube. Ranged: dart +22 (5d12+14 P)
  • Primal Regression w/Evolution I: For 10 rounds the hive horror gains a +8 enhancement bonus to Strength, a +3 armor bonus to EAC/KAC, and 3d10 temporary hit points.  However, its Intelligence and Charisma are reduced to -3 modifiers, and it is unable to use Intelligence-or Charisma-based skills, cast spells, understand language, or communicate coherently.  It also takes a –4 penalty on Will saves.

ECOLOGY

Environment any

Organization hive

The type 10 or torus horror is a large minotaur-like hive horror.  Two or more large bone protrusions rise from the horror’s skull used in combat to gore opponents. The horror has molted brown heavy hide-like skin, serrated claws, and long powerful legs giving it a speed advantage.  However it has a far more dangerous ability.  The torus horror has five white pupil less eyes which can cause confusion in the weak minded.

Torus horrors are almost always encountered alone or exclusively with other Taurus horrors.  They are commonly deployed in labyrinths leading in or out of a necroborg hive or enclave.
