Valyssian

“We are the measure by which civilisation remembers itself.” — Valyssian maxim

Overview

Once the moral and cultural heart of Aesos, Valyssia now bears the weight of its own perfection.
A land of marble cities, mountain borders, and endless bureaucracy, it claims to be the first nation to codify the Lifestar’s law after the Rebellion Wars.
Where others chase discovery, Valyssians preserve — they see change as entropy, not progress.

Appearance & Physiology

Valyssians are of medium height and balanced build, their features symmetrical and their attire immaculate.
A lifetime under the southern sun gives them a warm complexion, and they favour gold-threaded robes or polished cuirasses symbolising authority.

Exposure to centuries of ritual incense and Light Leyline resonance has made Valyssians resistant to minor Mana sickness and photic burns.

Culture & Society

Society is tiered: nobility of the High Council, bureaucrats of the Luminant Order, and citizen castes of artisans, scribes, and soldiers.
Order is sacred — every citizen’s role is registered by the Office of Balance, a civil arm of the Church.

Art and architecture serve function first and beauty second. Even theatre exists as moral instruction.
A Valyssian’s worth lies in duty performed perfectly, not creativity expressed boldly.

Magic & Leyline Affinity

Valyssia’s Light Leyline nodes burn brightest beneath its cathedrals.
Conduits and Priests operate side by side — sometimes literally connected by Aether channels during mass rituals.
Valyssian magic is clean, geometric, and bound by divine formulae; “unlicensed sorcery” is heresy by law.

Faith & Belief

The Church of the Lifestar holds its central Synod in Valyssia.
Faith here is civic structure, not personal expression — to break dogma is treason.
However, whispers of the Dark Sister’s shadow persist beneath the cathedrals, where scholars debate forbidden dualism.
