Personal history
Tyr was the first of the gods created by Io, but the last of the chief gods to create beings of his own. With his words and rulings, he created the air elementals. He would also become the last of the chief gods to create mortals in his image: the Humans.
Fastidious and neurotic, Tyr was primarily an aspect of Io's order and sense of Justice.
When Tyr first visited the Aerd, he grew infatuated with the sun. Her light and warmth brought joy to the mirthless Tyr, and he began to court her. After centuries of pursuing her, Tyr sought audience with his father in order to take her as his bride. Io allowed the marriage, and the sun manifested herself as Aurora, goddess of beauty and light. Throughtout known history, it has been said that the only time Tyr smiles is when Aurora is there to light his face.
When the Elementals subjugated the newly created humans, it was Tyr who was chosen to be the tactical mind behind the divine retribution on the Elementals. His plans saw the creation of the Elemental Planes, which served as celestial prisons for the deposed Elementals.
Tyr also led the retribution efforts against the Asimati during the The God-Mage War. While followers of Tyr assert that he led the charge against the Asimati because they had become tyrants, others claim that his ire against them truly stemmed from their preference for worship of his daughter, Mystra. This conflict ultimately led to the banishment of Tyr's son, known now only as Pariah, due to long forgotten circumstances.
Tyr kept the human pantheon mostly out of The Godslaughter Wars. It was his decision to stay out until the very end that allowed Capellia to relatively thrive during and immediately after the wars. His neutrality did cost him relationships with his brothers, however, leading to rifts between humans and the other races. Eventually he sided with Corellon, and aided in the defeat of Gruumsh, the One-Eyed.
Tyr has secured himself as one of the most powerful gods over all pantheons. His clout demands respect if not affection, and even those who hate him find themselves paying deferrence. Despite this, he his resentful of his place among the gods. He sees himself as the true heir of Io and resents Bahamut, King of Dragons for taking what he believes his rightful place as High Lord of the Gods. He has also found his own legitmacy threatened as Bahamut, being of Io himself, is thought to be a more pure embodiment of the Justice of Io, leaving Tyr to be a pale reflection or an outdated belief.
