Oakhurst

Oakhurst is a village located east of Miritar Forest, near the border between Valoria and Khaz Varrak.

Significant locations in Oakhurst, and the people to be found therein, include:

Village Hall

The center of government in Oakhurst, including the office of Mayor Markos Delphi, a human with black hair and beady blue eyes. Mayor Delphi lives in Whitelock Manor, which is a 15 minute walk from the town centre.

Town Jail

Next to the village hall is a stout building where miscreants serve brief sentences or await transportation to a dedicated prison. Six guards and two scouts are stationed at the jail at all times.

Oakhurst's guard captain is Zayne Erlshade, a male half-elf with ginger hair and sharp eyes. He wears studded leather armor and wields a rifle and a long sword. In addition to his regulars, Zayne may commands an additional force of twenty-seven militia and six guards to help keep Oakhurst safe.

Whitelock Manor

Whitelock Manor is the residence of Mayor Markos Delphi. His butler, Esquire, also lives on the premises.

Markos maintains a collection of historic and esoteric artefacts, largely to find a means of resurrecting his deceased wife and daughter, who were killed in a gnoll attack near Oremar six years ago.

Markos was recently fatally wounded in an attack at his residence, but he has since been resurrected at the Shrine of Pelor.

Oakhurst General Goods

The village's main source for supplies and merchandise is the general store, owned and operated by Kerowyn Hucrele. Kerowyn is slender, with greying auburn hair and dark brown eyes. She runs the store with the assistance of her recently widowed daughter, Sharwyn.

The Golden Stinger

The Golden Stinger is a specialty shop selling wild honey, royal jelly, wax candles and other bee-related products. The shop is operated by Goster Stoutsong, a middle-aged male halfling with a gruff voice and a pair of thick-lensed prescription glasses.

Shrine of Pelor

Advice, information, and healing are among the services dispensed at the village's shrine, dedicated to the prime deity of Valoria, Pelor. It is maintained by Dem "Corkie" Nackle, a female gnome priest with messy purple hair and green eyes. She wears well-made clothing and an holy sun amulet and has a pleasant yet anxious demeanour. She is assisted by Agna Hammerfist, a female dwarf acolyte.

Stonehand Smithing

Repairing and forging arms and armour is the job of the village smithy, Rurik Lutgehr, a male dwarf with a rugged appearance, belied by his blond hair and soft hazel eyes. He wears simple clothing and several small tools hang from his belt and is fascinated by mathematics and geometry.

Ol' Boar Inn

Garon Haig, a male human army veteran, is the publican of the Ol' Boar Inn, an historic establishment near the market square. Garon has brown hair, green eyes and a gruff yet fatherly personality.

Garon primarily serves food and drink, and the Inn has a few cosy rooms that visitors can rent. A ceiling trapdoor in the upstairs hallway leads to the attic, filled with old furniture and paintings covered with sheets, plus a chest full of maps.

Garon employs a purple-skinned tiefling bartender/janitor, Akmenos. Despite the attitude Valorians typically have towards his race, he has found the locals to be quite accommodating.

Adara's Cauldron

The home and business of the apothecary Adara Gwynn. The building is a windmill for a long abandoned farm, repurposed for preparing potions and a variety of other magical aid.

Adara is a hexblood, cursed by a now deceased sea hag. She was previously in thrall to Granny Sootikin, the fabled Hag of Miritar Forest, who had promised to lift the curse after 10 years of service spying on Oakhurst.
