Birthdays in Aellorah
Birthdays in Aellorah can vary in importance depending on your culture and where you live, but most cultures at least celebrate them to some degree.
Luminari
The Luminari only celebrate their birthday twice in their life -- the day that they come of age, and the day that they turn 100, as it is extremely uncommon for Luminari to live so long, despite their lifespan, because many choose to walk the path of the Sentinel or the Truthseeker, or choose to protect the world in other ways. Very few Luminari are content to live the mundane life of a farmer or tradesman.
Dwarves
The Dwarves have a similar mindset to the Elves in this matter, but still like to celebrate milestones. The average Dwarf may only celebrate their birthday every 10 years or so, and their idea of celebration usually consists of drinking until you pass out.
Lynoxi
The Lynoxi are not fond of being reminded of their aging, and may celebrate their birthday once every few years, but do not make a big show of it. Many simply go out drinking.
Vesperkin
Vesperkin are second only to Humans, throwing rowdy parties with all their friends and family that go well into the night. Vesperkin have a special "coming of age" birthday that they call "The Unraveling", wherein when they turn 14, they receive gifts to help them on their journey setting out on their own. It is generally expected that Vesperkin have an idea of what they want to pursue in life by this point, and the gifts usually help them do so. A Vesperkin seeking to become a blacksmith might receive their first set of tools and maybe even a letter of recommendation for an apprenticeship.
Humans
The Humans place the greatest importance on their birthdays, especially after the Grave Rot Plague, because with so few Humans remaining, they feel that every year that they live is a blessing. Humans never work on their birthday, and their community will generally hold celebrations once a week in a common place for all of the birthdays that week, making each person's favorite dishes for them.
Gifts aren't unheard of, but are uncommon, as some view it as distasteful, as if you are trying to curry favor with them above those less fortunate who cannot afford to give such things.
Letheni
The Letheni are the notable exception in that most never celebrate their birthday. When you are expected to live for 2,000 to 3,000 years, a single day in the year seems so insignificant.
Ettinor
The Ettinor place no importance whatsoever on the day of their birth, and many may not even know when it is, let alone how old they are.
Sylvareth
The Sylvareth vary as to whether they give much thought to the day of their birth. Those who lean more towards the Letheni side of their heritage might very rarely, if ever, celebrate their birthday. But those who lean more towards their Human half will have small celebrations with friends.
Forgeborn
The Forgeborn do not place any significance on the date of their awakening, and seem puzzled by mortals' choice to celebrate it.
