Allovir
The Allovir is a name for a Dwarf that has been seduced by deep secrets of magic by agents of Maven, and subsequently marked by him. Dwarves who seek to know magic's most forbidden secrets often end up targeted by Maven, who dispatches his agents to provide them with tomes of the knowledge they seek -- but it comes at a high price. Those who read the information contained within these tomes gain the knowledge they seek, but in doing so, are marked by a curse which robs them of their ability to direct Flow permanently, making use of magic impossible. This mark is far too powerful to be removed by mortal magic, requiring divine intervention to purge from themselves; however, given that having the cursemark indicates a desire for forbidden knowledge, Aellor is very difficult to convince to remove it.
Those afflicted with the cursemark do not just lose their ability to use magic permanently; they passively consume static Flow in a large radius around them, rendering others nearby incapable of drawing in the Flow necessary to cast spells themselves. This has led to a belief among Dwarves that the curse can be spread by proximity to those afflicted by it. For this reason, many Dwarves are willing to kill those bearing the mark on sight. The Alloviren are exiles, unable to enter any of Reshyk's cities.
The nature of the cursemark is that it is "infohazardous", meaning that the knowledge that the afflicted read from the cursed tome carries the curse with it. This means that if the Alloviren were to pass on that knowledge to another, they would also become afflicted with the mark. This is unfortunately unknown to all on Aellorah currently. Though this curse was created specifically to target Dwarves, the curse can be spread to any mortal if the afflicted passes on their forbidden knowledge.
