The tale of Mayusi and the rivers
Summary
Mayusi who long ago, dove into deep waters to save two young boys from drowning, while he saved the two boys, he never resurfaced again. This tal began a legend that Mayusi is one of a group of Aru'haren, ancient sea dwellers who are rumored to take mortals every couple of centuries and raise them to not-quite-divinity.
Historical Basis
Mayusi Luhoren was 19 when he gave his life to save two young boys, Ruro and Duho Fuyoki, from drowning. He was taking an afternoon walk and he heard the young boy's fighting the waves in the river. He jumped right in and got the young boys to shore. He was unfortunately taken by the waves shortly thereafter. What remained of his body was found a few weeks later at the bottom of the river.

Mayusi and the rivers is a cautionary tale of the waves. A warning to stay away from the waters at high tide, and to never step close to the raging rivers. It's used mostly as a way to get young ones to understand the dangers of the waters, and what signs to look out for.

He is a common fixture in folk tales and poetry, often as a guide to the reader and the narrator.
