Lejion Naw Armael

(Coriniaid) - Armael's Legion she brings to Ralhaz

Lejion Naw Armael (Armael's Ninth Legion) is one of Armael's armies, and the one she brings with her to Raudan during Lambscress' reign. It is the army from which she selects champions from for the Eskern Cycle, as well as contains some of her personal best soldiers and advisors.

Members include:
Rigana (Coriniaid)
Idalia Lark (not by choice)

A brief description:

  • Lejion Naw is the army that Armael travels with and also fights with
  • Her second in command is Rigana, a Coriniaid who takes the form of a stag
  • A large portion of her army are Coriniaid

Their public agenda (purpose, mission, aims)

  • To act as Armael's guards, advisors, warriors, and retainers
  • To act as diplomats for Ankou
  • Part of Armael's faction for the Eskern Cycle

Describe their visuals (flag, motto, uniform)

  • The Symbol is a circle of 8 moons of varying phases with a new moon and oil drop in the centre
  • Their armor is made of some sort of engineered bulletproof plastic that looks a bit like bones
  • Their clothes are typically Coriniaid black, somewhat shimmery and glittery yet also dull
  • Some show more bare skin than others, particularly those in close combat, as they all coat themselves in a protective petroleum gel that repels indirect attacks and reflects light, disorienting their foes
  • They have a simple motto - "In the name of Danno."
  • Their symbol is the nine moons, representing the Nine Nights of the early Eskern Cycle, from which they got their fame

Their secret agenda (if they have one)

  • They are looking for a way to undo the evolutionary changes which made Armael realise the Gannwyll Gwydd are one mutated gene away from ending up back as Coriniaid and losing all of their memories

Structure

It is structured similar to a Roman Legion, with Armael as the general and leader.

Culture

Armael's success comes from what Dando taught her about the advantage soldiers have over warriors. Although Armael is very erratic in disposition, she runs her legions smoothly and methodically and keeps them in line. Many of her footsoldiers are lower-ranking or underdeveloped Coriniaid, whom she trains with different archetypes inspired by gladitorial warriors from her lost culture. She is searching for the poison that her mother, Laodice and her lover drank that turned them back into Coriniaid and wiped their memories.

History

This is Armael's personal legion, and the one that she watches the most closely. However, a lot of them are beings who have been repeatedly brought back from the brink of death or nothingness. Her army is thus often seen as "soulless" and devoid of sapience.
