Flittermouse Mound

Flittermouse Mound is a burial mound and shrine for the Sulyafuj prince and hero Lorcan, surrounded by a freshwater source which acts as irrigation for known animals in honour of his efforts to bring clean water and also preserve the Coriniaid.

What's the name of your building? Why?

Flittermouse Mound is named for the Flittermouse, who are giant bats who act as working animals for the Sulyafuj. The Alpen, who are nocturnal species linked to them, have a relationship with the Sulyafuj because of this, and this connection was very beneficial for Armael when she was building her army after the fall of Heno.

What’s the purpose of this building?

  • Burial mound/shrine
  • Caretaker's house
  • Water reservoir

How does this building look and feel?

  • The caretaker's house is a tiny house/micro house, beside it is a sympathetic silver cauldron by a river/creek
  • Water reservoir
  • In the centre an island with a burial mound with a passageway with an offering table and a tunnel to pass through, with a little wishing pool and carvings of a procession and sacrifice

Defenses

Originally the pool was quite shallow but over time it became much deeper and filled with parasitic and deadly bacteria, which is boiled and treated before being consumed. There is a bridge that connects the mainland to the centre island, but it often sinks beneath the waters in heavy rain. It is dangerous to access during rainy seasons for this reason.
