Ilmas Vaegath
The Original Scarsan
This moon-elven scarsan of the Age of Mythral was one of those responsible for the defeat of Yrus Felbrood during the Yrchin Scourge. Having been the most developed alchemist in her time, she created a number of potions and weapon oils that were specifically created to assist in the killing of Sartor. The specific form of alchemy is named after her - Vaegathian alchemy. An original Saendaaran elf, Vaegath departed Qenaara in the initial migration of The Waning, growing her skills in neutralizing veilish influence on her journey. This largely took the form of alchemy, but also in magic craft of her own. A skilled blade, she was rugged and intellectual, studying swordselfship as diligently as her scrolls. Departing for The Waning, she was a young elf, only in her third century (~3500 A.A.R.). By the end of the Abhorrence at Saendaara and the end of the Yrchin Scourge, she was nearly through her eighth century. As such, she departed as a youthful elf, but found herself as an elder of the Saendaara when things had finished by around 4000 A.A.R..Potions of Fire and Blood
Starblood
Vaegath created a potion to exploit the demons scrisalin based upon their ravenous desire for elven blood. The potion mixes with her kin's ichor to create a mixture that is instantly flammable when it comes into contact with demonic flesh, so though it requires a martyr, it is supremely effective in killing scrisalin. The flame is radiant and aggressive, and spreads easily as panicking, burning scrisalin tend to trample over their demonic siblings in their flurries. Mhyrinal - Starblood in elvish, was imperitive to the defeat of Yrus Felbrood and the Yrchin Scourge during The Waning. To this end, she also aided fundamentally in the creation of Mhyralite - Edge of Starblood. This weapon was used to slay Yrus Felbrood and destroy his dark citadel. Every member of the Mhyrinal Order brought something to the creation of Mhyralite, and Vaegath's contribution was that of an oil suitable for the quenching of the weapon.Mythral Ink
Known to her as Mythreon, or mythral ink, the substance she fabricated was capable of maintaining the crystaline structure, and thereby magical potential of mythral, in a liquid form. She had invented it many years before the creation of Mhyralite, but as she looked to develop a weapon to destroy Felbrood, found that when metal is quenched in it, it can take on a unique physicality. Most of the time when something comes into contact with mythral, the welding it does is jagged and imperfect, but items quenched in mythral ink can create a perfect, even weld.Career as a Mythmaker
During the Yrchin Scourge, Ilmas Vaegath was fundamental in the gathering of a group thereafter known as the Mhyrinal Order, and their members were Mhyralite Paladins. Initially, the group was six strong, but it grew shortly after the defeat of Felbrood as a result of needing more skilled hands to clean up the scrisalin infestation. She took it upon herself to gather members personally, and was their defacto leader. Her first four companions were the humans Tarthan Oerved and Palas Thunderfall, the talii Maduloa, the dwarf Alzdek the Eastward, and the sun-elf Ulaes Solin. In this time, she developed many alchemical solutions to problems they had faced. Furthering the science in ways numerous, she gained world renown for her advancements in the field, though much of what she had learned lies hidden still in her home of Saendaara. By 4200 A.C.R., she and the Mhyrinal Order had eradicated most of the threat of the Yrchin Scourge's remnants in the region, though not all. In the effort to finish off the last of the corruption in the region, Vaegath was betrayed by Palas Thunderfall. While driving out the threats that remained in the area, Vaegath indeed saw that some of the scrisalin were simply driven into the homes of Yrchal and the other races that were seen to form the Bassyric nature of the region. Thunderfall pleaded to Vaegath that they were not to be used as fodder, as distractions or bait, but Vaegath had lived so long and seen such evil by those of Bassyric blood that considering them worth saving from these horrors had not occurred to her. Vaegath was indeed moved by Thunderfall, and planned for more diligence to be made in treating these peoples with more respect. After all, they had done no true evil themselves, but were simply born by it and knew no other way. Her years had gathered, however, and Vaegath planned like elves do with such years. She would take decades to shift her paradigm and make those changes, and Thunderfall would not wait. She was a longlived human, but could not fathom these changes taking so long despite their effectiveness, and so she took matters into her own hands. Thunderfall did not heed Vaegath's words as she explained the need to take things slowly, that the stability and mirth of the region depended on it. Thunderfall's demands could not be accepted by an elf with such perspective, and thus, the Onyxian War began. The Vallian Empire was stirred at the complacency of the elves to let the Bassyric peoples of the scourged region be in such horrible conditions for so long after the scourge had ended. Not only this, but the elves controlled the region exclusively, and would not allow for the use or exploitation of these lands until it was deemed stable. Their plans included the re-invigoration of the land for farming, the opening of channels to mines for the rich minerals of the region, and the use of the ideal weather for raising armies. They needed hundreds of years to rejuvinate the realm, but this would not come to pass. The Vallian Empire sought use of the land immediately, and wished not to idly watch as the elves would treat the land how they saw fit, without the consideration of the native populations. The Vallian Empire warred against the Saendaaran elves of the region, fending them from all progress they had made. Warbands were funded by onyx mines, as well as many other precious minerals that could be dug up to fuel the Vallian war machine. Saendaaran elves wished not for the bloodshed, having faced so much during the Yrchin Scourge and Waning, and so their efforts to fight back were minimal. The Mhyrinal Order was disbanded as Vaegath decided that the remainder of her time would be spent in Saendaara. The Yrchin peoples rallied themselves, and seeing as what they considered a threat, the elves, had left, they took up arms agains the Vallians. They took them by storm. The Vallians thought the Yrchin would consider them a beneficent freedom, but they only considered them as new oppressors. The Vallians were driven out of their valley, and warbands were taken to the Empire. Slowly, over decades, the Vallian Empire took loss after loss. The warbands of the Yrchin had no predictability or pattern, only a slog of towns being razed and looted, one after one. After such time, the constant raiding had stopped, and the Yrchin formed more formal borders at the bounds of the Yrchin Valley. The damage to the Vallian Empire, however, was done. Reconstruction efforts had become stagnant over the decades, as humans felt that it was pointless given the frequency of attacks, and so by the time they could rebuild, many different leaders had come about and declared their independance from the Empire where it had failed to help. The Vallian Empire shattered into numerous city-states, with its pieces dragged to the Yrchin Wilderness as loot. Vaegath watched as the Vallian Empire fell, and the remainder of her short-lived companions through the Yrchin Scourge withered with age. Left with only herself and her home, she fell into obscurity, though not to a select few. Palas was an accomplished sartor, and by the end of the Onyxian War, became obsessed with her death. Her Renown
Ilmas Vaegath was a well known figure in her life and stands true as a Mythmaker. Her actions during the Yrchin Scourge was paramount to the eradication of the scrisalin. With the help of other Mythmakers of the time, her actions would see one of the most impactful events of that past that still impacts the modern day. As a result, Saendaara had been witness to greater growth than Qenaara has ever seen. Where a geode would form, Saendaara already resided, and the dark elves have seen fit to nurture the great amount of energy that imbued their crystals. Though their geode was already sundered and could not itself grow, the Saendaarans discovered that the crystal does not die after it is sundered, but enters a new stage of its life where it may be symbiotic with the elves.
