Ploughshare

Fortamshaerra, the Earth Cutter

The weapon of Wilder, the True A'arden God of Autumn, Rebirth, Agriculture and the Harvest, Ploughshare is a Legendary Divine Weapon that from afar looks very plain, other than its strange shape and colour. It is a shapeshifting weapon that is able to transform into a man-pulled plough or a simple hoe at the command of Wilder.

At first glance, Ploughshare looks very much like part of a literal ploughshare, mounted upon a hilt. However, upon closer inspection, the reddish-brassy coloured sword has a single, sharpened edge and the share-blade is shaped like a maple leaf. Additionally, the hilt guard is shaped like various leaves, and a thin chain hanging from the pommel features a charm shaped like an apple. The hilt is bound in red-brown leather and stitched in gold.

Ploughshare responds to the whims of its Master without need for spoken word. It is known to have powers related to nature and has the ability to purify the land. It glows faintly at all times and always seems to give off an aura of relaxation. Wilder is known to carry this weapon at all times, even when possessing His Avatar, though it tends to be in the form of a Hoe when doing so.

History

It is believed that Ploughshare was created at the time that Wilder Ascended to His role as God of Autumn and Harvest. It is not known what inspired the creation of the weapon, nor whether Wilder's previous life as a Mortal had anything to do with the shape the weapon took.

Ploughshare originally went by it's Old A'arden name, Fortamshaerra, which means "earth cutter". Upon the establishment of Common as the primary language of trade, the term "ploughshare" became more popular. It is still known as Fortamshaerra amongst Wilder's clergy, but there has been no effort to correct the terminology. It is suspected that Wilder himself finds the Common name amusing.

Significance

Ploughshare is a Godly weapon and is considered a symbol of harvest and renewal.
