Maya's Bloom
Maya's Bloom is a term used to describe the blooming of Mother’s Hope lilies, a type of wild lily that only grows in pockets of mana-saturated meadowland near both mountains and a water source. These lilies only bloom for one night a year, and that is one of the five nights that Maya's Blessing is close enough to A'arde that the comet-like entity changes colour from pink with white dust to green with yellow dust. Without Maya's Blessing, the lilies do not bloom, and will instead wither away.
It is believed that the lilies are somehow coded to react to the light, or perhaps even the energies, given off by Maya's Blessing when it reaches its closest point to A'arde during it's orbits. For this reason, attempts to artificially cultivate Mother’s Hope have failed; while the plants can be encouraged to grow, they will only bloom on that singular night, and only if they are exposed to the light of Maya's Blessing.
Manifestation
Maya's Bloom manifests as a mass opening of lily flowers, with the green flower buds splitting and revealing faintly glowing white, yellow and pink petals within. The Bloom moves as a wave, starting in the easternmost part of the meadows and working it's way westward. Each individual flower takes ten minutes to fully open, and the length of time it takes for a meadow to reach full bloom can vary depending on the size of the meadow from it's easternmost to westernmost points.
Blooming Mother’s Hope lilies give off a white glow with faint particles of pink, yellow and green dancing just above the flower heads.
Localization
Maya's Bloom only occurs in mana-saturated meadowland near to both mountains and a water source, as this is the only place that Mother’s Hope grows. Such places include the meadows surrounding V'helreshtifer's Deep in north-east Curtana and north-west Hartmoor, and the sheltered meadow of Halston's Belt in the Heartlands.
