Incidere
Created for use by a Paladin of Sylvanus, Incidere is a legendary greatsword famous for being "unbreakable". This is, however, something of a misnomer. Incidere can indeed be broken, however, the blades will "regrow" any shattered parts within hours of the break, making it seem that the blade was never damaged in the first place. With its rodent iconography and unusual shape, Incidere has also been called the Rat-Toothed Greatsword as a slur by enemies of its wielder.
Incidere is unusual in that this wide-bladed greatsword features two rectangular blades on one grip, resembling the incisors of a rodent. This trait makes it easily recognisable, and its ability to regrow its blades is also in line with the rodent theme. The crossguard of the sword is intricately detailed with iconography of various rodents, including rats, mice, squirrels and even hamsters, and the grip is bound in squirrel fur. A decorative chain resembling a silver rat tail hangs from the pommel, and it is sometimes seen with a trio of fluffy balls, thought to be a "Trick Ball", hanging from it.
Alongside its ability to regrow its own blade, the fluffy balls that hang from the pommel of Incidere are said to be similar to those that come from a Bag of Tricks, having the ability to summon giant rodents. When used in a thrusting motion, the flat edge of the tip has the ability to do additional force damage on a hit, and it is said to be a keened weapon. Incidere also gives its wielder the ability to speak with any rodent as long as the sword, or one of the fluffy balls, is upon their person.
History
The history of Incidere is spotty, as it has frequently disappeared and reappeared throughout the Ages. It is thought that it was originally crafted by or for a Paladin of Sylvanus who had a particular love for rodents, specifically squirrels and rats. The Paladin was said to embody the positive spiritual traits of resilience, adaptability, resourcefulness, prosperity, playfulness, preparation and wisdom, but was also said to have used both growth and rot-based magics.
When not in the hands of one of Sylvanus' faithful, it is believed that the blade resides in the Grove of the Earthfather in the Heartlands. The current wielder, Clodagh Blathnaid, only obtained the sword in early Greenrise of 1488, Y6A.
