Golden Bounty
A ceremonial sword used by the clergy of the Church of the Golden Mistress, Golden Bounty is a unique item that was originally crafted by a Mortal, but was then blessed by Orino (the Goddess of Summer) herself after it was dedicated to the Church. It was created by Master Craftsman, Kain Roiban, a Half-Orc Half-Human from Karadal, during the middle of the Age of Arcana.
Golden Bounty is a functional longsword, but it was crafted for purely aesthetic purposes. The golden-sheened blade is finely etched with images of the sun and verdant meadows, while the gold hilt is decorated with images of sunflowers and fireflies. The grip is wrapped in red leather and stitched in white and blue, and the guard is shaped like a lion's mane.
The sword originally had no magical properties, but after being blessed by Orino is gained the ability to grant blessings of its own when wielded by a high ranking Priest of the Church of the Golden Mistress. The sword has a permanent golden glow, and the air within a radius of fifteen feet is never cold, even when the weather is freezing. Additionally, the blade is used in a ceremony to choose the next High Priest of the Church, though the specifics of how the sword is used are largely unknown.
History
Golden Bounty was created by Master Craftsman, Kain Roiban, a Half-Orc Half-Human from Karadal, during the middle of the Age of Arcana. It was originally gifted to the church during a crafting competition which took place on the Floating City of Zaiuasine. As the sword was placed on the dedication altar, the entire congregation was bathed in a golden light, and the sword was transformed into a Holy Relic.
The sword remained in the Church of the Golden Mistress on Zaiuasine until the Fall of the Floating Cities, when it was retrieved by an Aquilaen Avisulo named Lucius Ferrumcornu, who jumped from the city and flew the sword down to the land below. He was badly injured in the attempt, but managed to take the sword to a safe place before succumbing to his injuries.
The sword remained in an unknown safe place throughout the Age of Chaos, before being returned to the hands of the head Clergy of the newly reformed Church of the Golden Mistress. These clergy carried the sword with them, the Head Priest even having to use it as a proper weapon, until they establish a new, permanent temple, where the sword now resides.
Significance
The sword is considered a Holy Relic and is sacred to the Church of the Golden Dawn.
