Forest King's Lament
A mythical sword lost to time in mysterious circumstances, the Forest King's Lament was an artefact blessed by an Archfey Spirit, Cian, King of the Claigeann Coille. It was wielded by an Elf named Rheinallt Tarianlwyd, who used it to free his people from the grip of a powerful curse.
Forest King's Lament was a falchion-style sword with a slight curve, made of Fey Silver and with a grip of bone. A dark green moss clung to the grip and back of the blade, and would regrow quickly if damaged or removed.
Considered a magical weapon, Forest King's Lament has only ever had one known wielder and so the full extent of its capabilities are unknown. It is believed that the moss on the sword has healing properties when applied directly to a wound or chewed.
History
While the full story has been lost to time, Rheinallt Tarianlwyd supposedly travelled to the Tìr na Sìthe, seeking help in lifting a curse that had been placed upon his village. He came to the Realm of Cian, the King of Sorrows and Despair and the first Claigeann Coille, who took pity on Rheinallt's plight.
Cian blessed Rheinallt's sword with the words "take the power I could not find; succeed where I failed; do not lose that which I lost". The sword transformed, and Rheinallt gave it the name "Forest King's Lament". He used it to drive back the curse that threatened to swallow his village, saving over two-hundred people in the process.
When Rheinallt died, the sword was buried with him; sealed in a "hero's tomb". During the Age of Darkness, the tomb was opened in order to retrieve the sword, so that it could be used to fight against the Fiends. However, the sword was not there; in its place was only moss in the shape of a sword, which disintegrated the moment it was touched.
Investigations revealed that the tomb had never been opened, and nothing else seemed to be missing from inside. It is speculated that King Cian himself may have reclaimed the blade, but as so few have ever met him, nobody knows for sure.
