Dawnmaiden's Song
Dawnmaiden's Song is a Divine artefact whose blade is crafted from Celestial Radiance, a type of gem only found within the Domains of the Gods. It was gifted to the Chosen of Aurora the Dawnmaiden during the Age of Darkness, where it was used to protect against Fiends, before being sealed away in a glass vault in the Chamber of the Dawn, within the Temple of the Dawnmaiden's Skies in Fortem.
The sword is a Bantamish Longsword that can only be wielded by Bantamfolk Chosen of Aurora, and the entire blade is forged from a Celestial Radiance gemstone, making it harder than diamond. The Celestial Radiance has a pinkish hue that shimmers with a full spectrum of colours, while the grip is wrapped in leather and silk. The crossguard is also crafted from the Celestial Radiance, and is engraved into the shape of rays of the dawn.
Dawnmaiden's Song utilises sound-based magic and spells within its abilities. It is capable of casting the Shatter spell, as well as creating a Thunderwave, amongst other sonic and crystalline spells. It gives off a faint glow when unsheathed, and has the ability to detect Fiends, Aberrations, and other Monsters.
History
The sword Dawnmaiden's Song was gifted to the Chosen of Aurora the Dawnmaiden, Pierre Archambeau, during the Age of Chaos. It was bestowed upon the Bantamfolk so that he may protect and guide those around him in a world that had not seen a sunrise in quite some time. It was used to protect against Fiends for centuries, being passed down from Chosen to Chosen, usually in the form of inheritance form Master to Pupil. This meant that for a very long time, Aurora had a constant line of Chosen ready and waiting to take up the sword on Her behalf.
The sword was used right up until the end of the Age of Darkness before being sealed away in a glass vault in the Chamber of the Dawn, within the Temple of the Dawnmaiden's Skies in Fortem, in the 12th year of the Age of Redemption. The Chosen of the time had never received a pupil, but had instead been instructed to place the sword into the protective chamber until such a time as it would be needed once more.
The Dawnmaiden's Song is now considered a priceless artefact kept by the Temple, and can be viewed at limited times throughout the year. It has its own protective Guard of Paladins, as well as several Clerics dedicated to maintaining the Chamber and the spells protecting the sword.
Significance
Dawnmaiden's Song is considered a Divine Artefact and has a high level of religious importance to followers of Aurora the Dawnmaiden. Her followers believe that they should attempt to visit the Temple to view the artefact at least once in their lives to give thanks for her gift of protection.
