Cygnadia
Cygnadia is a beautiful example of rapier craftsmanship, crafted as a gift of affection from a craftsman to a lovely bard he had fallen in love with. It is currently located in the temple of Veeda, where it was dedicated after the death of the bard by her son.
Cygnadia is a rapier with a finely polished blade and a basket-hilt shaped like the wings of a swan, crafted from white steel and crystal. The neck of the swan forms a curved, decorative piece on the basket side of the hilt, and the grip is wrapped in white leather stitched with black and gold. It is lightweight, but also strong and durable,
Cygnadia can be used to cast levitation and flight spells, though they are limited to the wielder and cannot be used on other objects or people. While it is magically enhanced, it is thought that the craftsman intended for Cygnadia to be used as a prop for dances or other performances, as it also appears to have the ability to enhance the prowess of a performer when used.
History
Cygnadia was crafted by a Human-Elf magical smith believed to be called Finn after he fell in love with a beautiful bard, another Human-Elf named Nadia. He spent many years working on perfecting the rapier, then waited for Nadia to return to his village. When she finally did, he gave her the rapier and confessed his love to her.
Nadia carried the rapier for the rest of her travelling days, performing with it on stage and caring for it tenderly before settling down with the craftsman. Cygnadia was then kept above the mantlepiece as a symbol of their love.
When both Finn and Nadia had passed away, Cygnadia was taken to a Temple of Veeda, where it was donated for dedication. When it was dedicated, the stipulation of the son was that "it should next be used for a purpose enshrined in love". As nobody is wholly certain what that means, it has rested in the Temple's publicly viewable Gallery for safe keeping.
