Blue Wolf Elite
The Elite of the Blue Wolf Mercenary Group are those who have achieved the highest occupational tier within the group. They will have reached at least Grade 12 of their Path and have proven themselves loyal and dedicated to the Group, as well as the Kaynes directly. The Elite are the highest-ranking mercenaries available at the Blue Wolf Mercenary Group, and many of them take on private, confidential missions for months, sometimes even years at a time.
Elites are divided into two types: Guildhall and Wanderer. Guildhall Elites are based and operate out of a Guildhall (the building within which a settlement "Branch" resides) within a settlement. These Elites often have homes within the settlement, and those that do not will stay in Branch-provided accommodations. Wanderer Elites spend more time out on the road, travelling pre-arranged patrol routes and utilising safehouses as stopover points. They have a "home base" Branch that they regularly report to, but rarely have their own rooms or properties within that settlement.
Elites are an adaptable contingent, mixing and matching individual Wolves into Dispatch Teams depending on the requirements of the job they have been requested to complete. Elites may perform a task solo, or they may be dispatched in teams of three, five, nine, or fifteen individual (where available). The largest publicly known dispatch of Elites in recent history was the dispatch of the entire Elite contingent during the The Peoples' Revolt of Fuldair, including recalled Wanderers. However, in general, the majority of requests are fulfilled by Guildhall Elites, while Wanderer Elites make up a permanent reconnaissance and first response detachment.
Composition
Manpower
An Elite contingent of a Branch is made up of at least twelve Guildhall Elites and two Wanderers. The larger the operation of a Branch, the more Elites are likely to be present. According to current statistics, the Blue Wolves' two largest Elite Contingents are the Muriedge Branch (35 Guildhall, 5 Wanderer) and the Fuldair Branch (42 Guildhall, 7 Wanderer).
Equipment
Elites utilise specialised equipment that has been created for them depending on their Vocations and Paths. In many cases, these items are custom made, though all Wolves are issued a set of basic tools for survival and expedition/exploration.
Weaponry
Weaponry amongst the Elites varies depending on personal preference, Vocation and Path. All Wolves are encouraged to carry a dagger about their person as a minimum.
Structure
While Standard Blue Wolf Mercenaries receive their jobs from a Branch's Contracts Broker, Elites receive their jobs directly from the Beta and Gamma of the Branch. In some exceptional circumstances, they may take orders directly from the Alphas, the Kaynes.
Training
Joining the Elites requires at least Rank 12 in a chosen Path. Additionally, a one year probationary period takes place, followed by competency tests and a loyalty test. However, these tests are random and unannounced, so Probationary Elites never know when they are being tested. The requirements of the loyalty test are unknown.
Logistics
Logistical Support
The Elites are supported by a team of administrators, accountants, and logistics personnel who answer to the Alphas, Beta and Gamma. The leadership of these includes a Buildings and Assets Manager (who is incharge of the building upkeep and maintenance), a Branch Accountant (who controls the Branch accounts), three Contract Accountants (Grades 1-3, who oversee contract payments and fulfilments), a Contracts Broker (who grades and assigns missions), and a Reception Support Administrator (who controls the front desk and mercenary support). In exceptional circumstances, Elites can request priority from support staff over Standard Mercenaries, though the requirements for this are very strict.
History
The Elite Contingent of the Blue Wolves dates back to the original mercenaries of the The Wolves roving mercenary band. It is believed that the original Elites were made up of those 120 mercenaries that followed Coinneach Kayne into battle against the Bandit Wolves in Goldrise 342. This is the largest known dispatch of high-ranking Wolves (and indeed, single unit of mercenaries) ever recorded, however since the group were not officially Elites back then, it is often discounted in Blue Wolf Mercenary Group achievements.
Historical loyalties
Blue Wolf Elites are well known for their historical loyalty to the Kayne lineage; the Alpha family that owns and runs the Blue Wolf Mercenary Group. While Standard Mercenaries may admit to being loyal to the money or the fame, Elites are fully committed to the Kaynes and their goals.
