Bloom

Bloom is the sister-sword to Rot, and is a magical shortsword most commonly associated with the leadership of the Order of the Elder, an organisation of predominantly Ranger Synergists dedicated to hunting down monsters. While Bloom and Rot were made as a pair, they are rarely wielded by a single person; instead being issued to two people as a symbol of balance and unity. Of the pair, Bloom represents natures healing and light, but also the viciousness and cunning of life. The blade is home to a Fey Spirit, though it is not known what kind of spirit they are.

A leaf-bladed shortsword, Bloom has a blade made of Fey Steel and a grip decorated with green leather and silver stitching. The crossguard features carved decorations of blooming vines with sharp thorns.

Bloom is known to have the ability to cast healing and restorative spells, as well as summon clusters of thorny, grappling vines. It can be used as a spell focus by Synergists, and once bonded to a wielder cannot be forcefully removed from their possession.

History

Little is known about the creation of the blades Bloom and Rot, as they initially belonged to a Fey being who passed them to their favourite Mortals after the Green Knight Massacre. The Fey wanted to leave a gift for their favoured ones when the Fey Retreat was ordered, and so left behind the swords. These two Mortals then formed the Order of the Elder.

The swords were then passed down through the Order's leadership up to the present day, with the Order always being run by two people.

Typically, Bloom is bestowed to the leader with greater healing and support abilities. This leader is chosen through trials of compassion, wisdom and survival. Bloom itself also has a say in who gets to wield them.
