Azazel The Watcher; Demon Prince of Princes

Amongst all the Demons, Azazel is considered by far the most beautiful, ensuring that his origins as an Elder Fiend are never forgotten. He is considered fit and athletic in appearance, with a pleasing physique and mesmerising face.

Azazel appears as a tall, golden-skinned Sapient with mottled black in a roan-like pattern across his body. He has black hair, black eyes, and black-feathered wings that glimmer with tones of green and red. His head is crowned with three pairs of black, red, and green horns, his fingernails are clawed, and his tail is finned like that of a dragon. His wings and horns are black with red and green tones across them, and they have a glassy appearance to them. His hands and feet are engulfed in fire that burns red and green, and he wears barely any clothing; enough to keep his modesty intact by Mortal standards, at least.

Azazel has a pleasant face with heroic features, a slightly square chin and a smooth jawline. His eyes are black and reflective like glass, while his oil-black hair is kept swept back from his face.

Despite having a more Devil-like appearance, Azazel is recognisable as a Demon by the fact that he has three pairs of large horns. While many Devils have multiple sets of horns, they generally have only a single pair of "crowning" horns, which are larger than the others by a significant proportion. Additionally, Azazel has feathered wings, while the majority of Devils have bat-like or pterosaur-like wings. The only Devil known to have feathered wings is Phosphoros Luciferus.

Amused by the Mortal concept of "modesty", Azazel likes to dress in a manner that is considered provocative. He wears little more than a loincloth and multiple leather harnesses, showing off his physique, though will occasionally don a cloak made of Devil skin.

Despite being the first of the Demons, and considered the Prince of Princes, Azazel has little interest in taking command and ruling the other Demons. Instead, he enjoys watching the chaos of the Abyss, often instigating small conflicts between Demonic factions, or even with Devils, for no reason other than boredom. When he does exercise his authority, it is usually on a whim, and serves only to further his own interests of keeping himself amused.

The Watcher is a capable, skilled manipulator, able to gently influence situations with little effort, but with maximum satisfaction in terms of his own personal goals. While Azazel is predominantly entertained by conflict, he is also attracted to vanity, a Mortal flaw that he is exceptionally well versed in fueling. He is extremely knowledgeable in the various types of physical and emotional attraction, making Azazel extremely dangerous for those with a tendency toward self-absorption. He is also known for his smooth tongue and deep understanding of political intrigues.

However, Azazel is easily bored, and prone to bouts of violence when such boredom hits. He also cares little for the Demons and Mortals who serve him, seeing them as replaceable objects meant to be toyed with. Despite this, when Azazel has found a "favourite plaything", he will go out of his way to ensure that it never falls into the hands of any of the other Demons, making him quite obsessive when it comes to whatever happens to catch his eye.

Azazel is renowned for enjoying chaotic displays and instigating conflict. He is especially fond of watching bitter enemies battle each other, be that in social, political, educational, or even physical ways. He greatly enjoys claiming Souls that commit desperate, evil deeds in order to gain the upper hand over their enemies, and will often court these Souls in multiple different ways so that he may consume them when they pass on.

Likewise, Azazel despises being bored, and is quick to lose his temper when he begins to lose interest. While he has little interest in ruling the Demons officially, he is more than capable of throwing his weight around and leveraging his position as the First Demon when it suits him. He hates being outwitted, and will take out his anger on whichever unfortunately individual is closest at the time, be they Demon or Soul.

Azazel is known as the Prince of Princes, and is therefore considered the most powerful Demon in the Abyss. He is easily on par with Phosphoros Luciferus of the Devils, but unlike Luciferus, he does not have any particular interest in ruling the Abyss beyond ensuring that other Demons remember his station. He is known to occasionally display acts of his power as a reminder of his abilities, and the ease with which he could remove or replace any one of the Greater Demons, even the other Princes.

Azazel "rules" the Abyss from his palace of Beth Dudayl, which rises above even Mount Siryon on the Spire of the Watchers.

Phosphoros Luciferus

While they are on opposing sides of the Navian Wars, the two rulers have never made any active attempts to eliminate each other. It is thought that the two may be related.

Lilith; Prince of Lust

Azazel has, on many occasions, turned to Lilith (another Elder Fiend) when he was in need of physical entertainment. However, he does not view her as an equal, and leaves her company as quickly as he seeks it. For her part, Lilith sees him as a challenge worth pursuing, but knows better than to force him into anything he does not wish to do.

Azazel is believed to be a sibling, or perhaps even a brother, of Phosphoros Luciferus. The two Fiends share many similarities in their physical appearance, though their colourations differ, and the two have never made any active efforts to outright kill the other.
