Walking Stick

Many of the travelling folks around the world use walking sticks. These tools may seem plain, but they can be helpful in several ways. They are used to help one walk, by supporting a person's weight and stature. They can also serve as a tool to make one appear larger or bigger and more intimidating to wild beasts and animals of the forest. These sticks are also often used to help leverage weight. If one is carrying a sack of belongings or the like, they can tie it to the end of their stick before throwing it over their shoulder or walking with the stick as normal.   The stick can also be utilized as a weapon. Depending on the size and length of the stick, along with its sturdiness and the material it is made out of, a stick can be a helpful weapon against a foe. It may not be able to stand up to the likes of arrows or other projectiles, but it can be handy in a tussle. It can also, depending on the material, stand a bit of a chance against something like a sword. If one is dexterous enough, they may be able to disarm their opponent.   These sticks can also be used for paddling boats or rafts. They can help one get footing when traversing up a mountainous or rocky area. They can also help when wading through a swamp or bog.   These sticks can be used to help one cook a tasty meal. By lying the stick across a fire, one can hang various pots, meats, or other things suspended over the flames for cooking.   The stick can also be helpful in reaching things that are high up. If one needs to knock something down from a high spot, the stick can sometimes double a person's height.   Sticks come in different shapes, lengths, and strengths. they are also made with different materials. Some sticks are intentionally fashioned by woodsmiths. Others are found in the wild by simply plucking a branch that fell from a tree off the ground. Some set out to go and chop a particularly sturdy branch off of a standing tree and utlize that as a walking stick.   Many Wanderers, Palals, and others who roam the world freely use these sticks. They are seldom used by Firgenholt Woodsmen, unless the branches were already fallen from a tree when they are come across. Sundorwickians may use them, as they are not opposed to creating from lumber, which Firgenholt consider 'harming' nature.   Almost everywhere you go, in any area of the world, there will be a person who has a walking stick. Even royals carry walking sticks, though the walking sticks of royals are often forged from precious metals such as bronze, silver, and gold. They are also often adorned with gems and jewels. They are fashioned to be ornate and significant to sybolize how powerful these rulers are.
