Dragon Haven

A foster care home financed by the Children of Cassidy Society. It is home to twenty five orphans and foster care children. Of them only two have no supernatural heritage. Of the rest, the majority are of various therian ancestries, while the rest are of different heritages. The foster care home was only integrated with the American foster care system two years after the Veil fell. Before that it was an orphanage for supernatural denizens only. This home gives the children a chance, as they learn to control their powers and once they grow up they receive either a stipend to strike out on their own or are offered to join the Dragon Loyalists.

Organizational Structure

Dragon Haven is registered and operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization within the United States. Its operations fall under the legal and financial supervision of the Children of Cassidy Society, which provides primary funding and compliance oversight. The organization is structured to ensure operational efficiency, fiscal responsibility, and child welfare, with defined layers of governance and functional roles. At the top is the board of directors that serves as the strategic and fiduciary authority. The board has five members, who volunteer in this position. They responsibilities include the strategic planning and long-term organizational vision of Dragon Haven, oversight of fundraising, approval of annual budgets and major expenditures, evaluation of executive leadership performance and ensuring that Dragon Haven complies with all regulations and the mission of the Society.

She has a powerful and ancient heritage, who came to serve Cassidy many centuries ago. This role is in essence her retirement, though she would never tell anyone that, as it is an important and stressful position. She is fully dedicated to do the best she can to ensure the safety and welfare of her charges. One of her key abilities is, that she can suppress out-of-control supernatural gifts.

Caretakers

The caretakers are the heart of the organization. It is their mission to ensure all of the children receive the care and guidance they need to

Support Staff

The six roles of the support staff are currently filled by five people. They all work together to ensure the Dragon Haven can continue to operate.
  • Eli Mora, Secretary (80%) and Relations and Resources Assistant (20%) - Human
  • Tomlin Yarrow - Cook (100%) - Therian
  • Safi Qadir - Fundraiser and Events Coordinator (100%) - Human
  • Juno - Facility Manager (100%) - Dryad
  • Marla Vint - Cleaner (100%) - Human

Assets, Finances & Donations

The dragon haven is fully dependent on donations collected directly and dispersed by the Society. The funds of the society are the same every year, but adjusted for inflation and increases in cost of living. These funds make up between sixty and seventy percent most years, as donations can vary greatly. Of the direct donations the majority of the funds come from a few large donor, many of whom are successful former wards of the dragon haven. The largest expenses are the salaries of the employees and the monthly payments into the savings accounts of the children. Other expenses come from the maintenance and utilities of the building, operating expenses for the foster care home and the general expenses for the children living there. In most years these expenses leave some money left over to spend on special events and extra training, but the extend of this varies from year to year. Dragon Haven fully owns the building it operates in, which makes it their biggest asset.

Aw there's a baby.   I really like the focus on the people involved in keeping this place running, especially the fact you included the cleaner.

I like the real-world aspects and what you have chosen to describe and where you have put your focus upon. I have an impression that you are either writing from your own experience or you must have done some serious research. I deeply respect your effort you have put on the details and to create something that associates and relates to the real world rather than just inventing some random wild fantasy-fluff.
