The balance between order and chaos is tenuous, forever on the edge of becoming unbalanced and starting a long spiral that will signal the return of The Stillness, and yet it is one of the most stable forces in the universe. This paradox is what makes ups all of existence and the forces that forever drive the Great Clockwork of the Cosmos. Glador and the Material Realms are only a small portion of the stuff that makes up the universe. Hundreds, and possibly thousands of other Planes exist. Some, like the Elemental Realms, act as direct forces on the Material Realm governing the way life on Galdor works, while others are so alien they are almost unknowable. The forces that make up the very nature of the Planes are raw expressions of Mana, Fire, Earth, Wind, Water, Electricity, and Gravity; a study of these forces led the first Arconian mystics to build the first models of the universe and the Planes. The study of the Planes has forever fascinated Lore Masters, Wizards, Scientists, Engineers, and Mystics of Galdor and the current wealth of knowledge and modern studies are contained with the Iron College of Science and Reasoning and the Other School of School Arcana.
The Four Realms
Most of Galdor's modern minds agree that there is a very finite number of Planes, although not all of them have been discovered or named, in the Modern Age conventional teachings places the numbers in the low hundreds. However it is also largely accepted that the Material Realms most likely contain an endless amount of planets or expressions of the Material Plane, and by their very natures, this means that the Aetherveil and the Void are also limitless in size. All of these Planes have been organized into Four Realms: Prime Realms, Material Realms, Shadow Realms, and Outer Realms. There is a theoretical fifth set of realms but not much is known of it. Each of the Realms interacts with all the other Realms, even if independent Planes don't directly interact, this is what makes travel between the Planes possible. However it takes an incredibly deep understanding of Arcana and Science, not to mention a healthy dose of luck, to actually move between and explore the Planes.
