The Void
Many people describe the Void as a place. They say it was the nothingness that the multiverse was born from. They say it is the place where the truly despicable souls go when they die. They are 100% right, and yet at the same time could not be more wrong. It is far more complicated than a mortal mind could comprehend and indeed is older and more ancient than even the virtue gods themselves could imagine. It watches you from within. It is the Hunger that draws the selfish toward their consumptuous desires. It is the Cold that suffocates the lonely and the forgotten. It is the Whisper that speaks to those in their dreams, deaths, and fears. It is deeper than the primordial Chaos at the bottom of Creation itself. It is the Death of all sentient forces across the multiverse. It is the Nothingness given sentience and cursed to hate itself for it.
Manifestation
The Void is infinite in a way that the mortal mind cannot comprehend. Few have actually seen the Void and lived to tell of it, and fewer still want to talk about it in any event. Most people have agreed that they stood upon a path of stone, staring into a misty, starry, and dark night sky. Some people claimed to be in some mirror world, where people they knew stood frozen in time, and water fell upwards into the air. All people who have seen it either in glimpses or journeys can agree, however, the Void is a broken place.
Localization
In places where the Void bleeds through into the Material Plane, or where the world has been affected in some way by some Void power, you may see slight distortions or images clipping in and out of reality. People or objects may look grey in color, or corrupted and rotten if moved into one of these places.
The Representative of the Void
There are stories all over Ætherius of the legendary and terrifying Void Dragon, who was cursed to spend the rest of its existence in the Void, speaking for It. Or rather, letting the Void speak through Him. Nobody knows for sure what the Void Dragon is, those who have seen Him in dreams only remember Him as awesome and terrifying in his corrupt glory. Legend holds that the Void Dragon is responsible for where the Void leaks into the planes, and only He chooses whom the Void affects, and how.
