The Days

Based on the organisation of the same name from the "Runelords" by David Farland
The Days are an ancient and secretive order, now transplanted from the old world of Midgard to their new home in Dor-o Estel. Bound by an unbreakable oath to the enigmatic Time Lords—beings of immeasurable power and mystery—the Days serve as their agents in the world.
Our task is both simple and profound: to bear witness to history as it unfolds, ensuring that no deed, no matter how small or grand, is forgotten. - Days Jones
No one knows exactly what world the Days originated in their current form. With numerous worlds claiming a guild or cult of scribes. What makes The Days unique in this land is that they are the only group of people who use the blood magic abilities of endowment gifting without being actively shunned.   The Days claim they are an "ancient order of historians whose goal is to follow and observe people of importance" to record their actions for future generations. Each Day records the events of their charge via a mind link with another of their order, created by exchanging an endowment of Wit with another Day. The Days serve beings known simply as the Time Lords, although little has been discovered about these Time Lords as of yet.   While one Days follows their person of interest, their counterpart lives in a monastery-type environment in the far north somewhere, kept away from anything other than their principal purpose, to compile the life journal of their chosen person of interest. The power of the Days order comes from knowing that at any given time they can find out what is happening to any particular noble at any place in the world. Therefore, should they wish to, the Days could influence events on a kingdom-wide scale. However, their service is completely focused upon observation, with a strict policy of noninterference – even in the face of cataclysmic war they would not act to save millions, nor would a Day stop to save a single drowning person.   Rumours and legends abound, though, of some Days or another betraying his vows of noninterference and sharing knowledge with his person of interest. They also seem to use their knowledge to tear down powerful people who attempt to drive them away, sharing the person's plans and secrets with their enemies.   The Days are easily identifiable by their simple brown robes.

A Neutral Party

Days are often used to validate claims of kinship or ownership by birthright by those who come through the portals. They are often willing to validate stories given as an accepted neutral party, but only if they are asked in terms of yes or no with a shake or nod of their heads. However, they are not willing to answer if they would class it as political interference or validate death or the existence of a person.
No one knows exactly why the Days are collecting the history and stories of so many, however, due to the ability to share their thoughts over such long distances and willingness to at least as a neutral party to validate facts they are tolerated. It is stated that if you can find your way to their stronghold you will gain the wisdom of the world both of this one and those before.
